Very few accidents are just random accidents. The vast majority are caused by someone either getting it wrong or doing something stupid.

which in effect make them an accident.
as i didnt think anyone got it wrong on purpose
i know when i get it wrong, it aint on purpose, its an accident…
I had two incidents last week that were both extremely close shaves that caused me to bell the plod to get off their arses and do something about them.
First one was in the roadworks in the M62E at Ferrybridge. I was enroute Scunny and had gone past the exit for the A1 and then suddenly, in front of me by about 75ft was a dark coloured Mondeo parked on the hard shoulder (which is also the nearside lane through the roadworks and the lane I was in) with no lights on, sides or hazards. It was dark and there are no street lights there. I absolutely zebidee’d myself and never even got chance to brake - I just ragged the wheel to the right and missed the car by a couple of foot if that. Luckily I’d only just checked my mirrors before I saw it so I knew it was clear thankfully. Total heart-wrenching moment - worst I’ve ever had for sure. How the 20ft empty box on a 20ft skellie didn’t go over I’ll never know.
Second one was later that same night as I was going through the tunnel under the Lofthouse interchange (M1/M62) from the M1N on to the M62W. As I was rounding the bend a guy was STOOD in the middle of the nearside lane with his thumb out trying to hitch a left. Another pant-filling moment as I had traffic alongside me. I blasted the horn and stamped on the brakes as he wasn’t moving - determined to stop me and it was only as I was just about stopped that he moved back to the rumble strip and started walking towards the passenger door . I just gave him some more horn and floored it, belling the plod at the same time.
‘Accidents’ ? Gimme a break…
Saw a woman walking along the hardshoulder of the M25 clockwise on Wednesday with a pushchair and 4/5 year old holding her hand.
There was no car on the shoulder got on to plod luckily there was a unit about a mile in front of her that had pulled wagon over (foreigner polish I think )
so they wern’t too far away.
Virtually every saturday night you get drunks walking on the m6 between j24 ashton and j25 wigan saw 2 lastnight about 3.30 ish heading for wigan arm in arm staggering along the north bound hard shoulder

About a year or so ago I saw a chap cycleing down the hardshoulder of the M6 between the 2 Coventry junctions in broad daylight. Correct me if I’m wrong but I thought they had signs at the slip roads with a list of prohibited vehicles yet I cant remember seeing any now.
A bit late I know but they were still re-laying the surface of the M6 4am saturday morning when I passed the scene coming out of Parceline hub in Birmimgham. The news said it was Phosphoric Acid that leaked from the tanker, so I dont hold out much hold for them underneath. Apparently 2 ppl were killed there. ■■■■ shame. Not the best way to go at all, thoughts are with the families.
