Why would you address them as Sir or Ma’am? They aren’t royalty.
I can’t understand the big fuss tbh.

I can.
It’s called being polite.like:
Herr,
monsieur,
señor,
signore.
GasGas:
The more ‘civilised’ the country the ruder the people.Mate of mine in New York City was asked
“Hey, y’gotta loite?”
To which he replied
“Sorry, I don’t smoke.”
and the reply
“I asked for a match buddy, not your f in life history”
America civilized ?
Try sitting opposite an American at dinner

You address everyone as Sir or Ma’am?
What’s wrong with PC ■■■, Mr ■■■ or Mrs ■■■ etc?
Btw, those foreign words you’ve posted mean Mr/Mrs in English.

It just goes to show how low your IQ has to be to become a police officer. None of the above would refer to a woman. They all depend on what context they are used (Sir or Mr).
And as the origional question was clearly asked by someone that dosn’t use English as his first language, Then it would be right for us to respond to him in a decent manner, Rather than the knuckle dragging, Neanderthal manner in which you like to post.
It is common in France to address someone as monsieur. Or spain (señor). Italy (signore).

So because I don’t speak multiple foreign languages, I have a low IQ? I think you need to question your own IQ if that’s your thinking.
If I said Señor/Herr/Signore/Monsieur limyphil, that would imply Mr limeyphil.
I’ve already provided an answer for the OP - Sgt ■■■, PC ■■■, Mr ■■■ or Mrs ■■■ etc
Best leave out - sport, ace, bub, squire and young man, not forgetting mi’laddo.
These won’t go down too well either - missie, twinkle, treacle, darlin’, honey and sweet’art.
Or alright fella
