haha, another blast from the past

derek randall - u forgot the “european enterprises” bit - wasn’t he australian - i remember before the daf and scania days they were doing italy and south of france in AEC Reliances one hit

yep. i had sur 868p. a 760 reliance 80 mph plus. non stop to loret and all the other places. good memories. he was half australian half south african. a right bugger to work for but your money was always there. even if you got back early hours your wages where hidden in a prearranged place. good old days.

readers wives sprang to mind first off, hadnt randalls used to do a lot of the touring for “womans world” mags and the like - readers holiday trips

yeah we used to do all the tv mags readers specials etc etc. could be fun aswell always got your legover aswell  . it seemed at the time everyone was doing shuttles. i went to ferris airways after randalls then top deck for 2 years. great fun

few more corcheela who were at the download festival as well as a few other i was at over the last few weeks

and a chuffin long old bus!!

Good pics Euromat.

I recently read an interview with Motorhead who said that they have always used TransAm for their trucking. Have you ever hauled the Bomber lighting rig?

PS I notice the Roy Humphrey Magnum pulling a Transam trailer in one of the pics…somebody got lucky!!

I did about 4 years for various bands. (76ish to 80ish) During some of that time I was an O/D with a MK1 “Luton” Transit. I well remember the firms EST, Stage Truck and Stardes, but I think there’s one you guys might have forgotten. Do you remember Thompson Trucking out of Trafford Park?? They were mostly a green colour, and did self-drive hire as well as hire with driver. The guy I remember best from there is Stan Gallon. We hired a “D” series Ford 0710 for a German tour from Thompson’s, but the prop-shaft fell off :open_mouth:

I worked with the Motorhead bomber as well, but I only did a few fillers for them. I can vouch for the fact that Motorhead used Trathens coaches, at least when I was with them. I did a bit with Skorpion as roadie and translator, and had stints with Alex Harvey and Alvin Lee. I also did the Ian Gillan Future Shock European tour. Some of the lesser known bands I’ve worked for are Strife, Nightwing and Dillinger. I’ll bet there’s a few I’ve forgotten, but what the hell?? Strange this, but I recently got a phone call from Nightwing and they asked me to do the Rock-of-Ages festival at Seebronn as a one-off. That’s definitely one for us oldies, because Manfred Mann is on the bill :open_mouth:

Have a look: http://www.rock-of-ages.de If you go to “boards,” you might spot my 8 posts on their forum.
