I was sent a picture of soldiers from my old regiment working inside this mega-temporary hospital in London assembling the beds.
They are all wearing hi vis vests on top of combat jackets FFS.

They are wearing their usual “workwear” and are also wearing hi-vis vests in the hope of making them a tiny bit more conspicuous to any co-worker operating forklifts or other MHE in the vicinity. What’s your issue?

They aren’t wearing their usual “workwear” at all, usual “workwear” is either coveralls or barrack dress!
Yet another know it all that knows nowt!

I haven’t seen soldiers in “barrack dress” for some years; every time I see them out and about it’s in DPM. As to coveralls, well, I wore them being ex-REME but then again that was because it was a dirty job. Wouldn’t want to be wearing them if I was doing a lot of manual lifting, too bloody hot.

As an aside; so far as I’m aware the terrorist threat in the UK is “substantial”. Wearing DPM would therefore be an obvious choice as they’re working in London and would effectively be dressed for something more serious if it happened.

Personally I wouldn’t give a ■■■■ if they were wearing civvies; they’re doing a bloody good job. Perhaps you’d care to make one of the deliveries there and instruct them in how a real soldier should dress. You’re not an ex-Provost sergeant by any chance?

Edit; I just spoke to an old colleague of mine, recently retired as a Lieutenant-Colonel so I guess he’d know. Those DPM’s are now known as MTP (Multi Terrain Pattern) and yes they are standard working dress. Barrack dress has not been issued for many years.

So, Grumpy Old Trucker, how about you being big enough to withdraw the unnecessary insult?
