Anyone ever seen the original B & W version of “Wages of Fear”? Saw it at the cinema years ago and recently got the DVD, the first hour or so is perhaps a bit slow but once they set off in the trucks full of nitroglycerine its nervy stuff.

Was there a film where Charles Bronsons wife got burned alive inside a Volvo F10?
I think it was an FL10. Death Wish 6 " The Wendyhouse". Cue deep gravelly voice…" He’s back…this time bringing unbearable pain to the streets…"
Another vote for Hell drivers.
Just a class film,with a class cast.
As road films go, I enjoyed Death race 2000.
No trucks, but I did enjoy the concept of getting points for running people over.
Maybe they should have been driving tippers?
Hell Drivers for me watched it last Sunday with a few tins of Guinness! Craving a ■■■ like mad watching it too haa ha
Old workmate told me that Duel is basically Jaws just swap the Shark for a Truck, think he had a fair point both being seemingly unstoppable forces that JUST KEEP COMING
my 3 favourites are convoy, roadkill[about a psychotic truck driver]and a good English one, the hijackers[from the 60s]also forgot a fourth after reading the other posts, hell drivers, brilliant

They’re all good films. It depends what you want. Mine is Smokey and the Bandit cos Jackie Gleason stole the show. His one-liners became classics. Everyone knows one
my favourite quote from sheriff buford t justice ARREST YOURSELVES,when he caught the youths about to strip the car sally field abandoned, excellent
Hammy747:
Any of the 3 Joy Ride films (think they were called Road Kill in the uk) are worth a watch. Not necessarily horror but a bit gory in places so be warned.
My favourite was the third one, trailer for it here. youtu.be/e25BD1SNyy4

roadkill, the drivers voice made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up,real creepy
My tuppence worth is for Duel as well. Made back in the days when truck drivers were respected and feared with equal measure.
My fav bit is “switching the lights on in the tunnel”. Lots of those small mind f–ks that we get to see every day…
Thoroughly recommended - if you’ve never actually seen this classic “Road Rage Thriller”.
I love a bit of “menace” me.
Hell Drivers!!!
One that hasn’t come up on here is a 1960’s black and white film Hi-jackers with Anthony Booth, Tony Blair’s father in law, he drives an old six wheeled Albion, good film it’s on youtube…

+1 for Wages of Fear (the original) and, even older, ‘They Drive by Night’ with Humphrey Bogart, George Raft, Ann Sheriden and Ida Lupino. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/They_Drive_by_Night

Juddian:
Must be me then i bloody hated Convoy, Duel though is proper, White Line Fever was ok in a 70’s sort of way, Smokey would have been superb without Reynolds but worth suffering him to leer at Sally Field.Christ thats triggered a memory, does anyone recall that lorry driver who got a bit famous for a while back then smashing the flourescent lights on the foyer of a British cinema with the cab roof of a showpiece F88 when he climbed the kerb outside, wasn’t that some promotion at the time for one of these truckin films? Bob summat or other?
That film youre thinking of Juddian: not sure but wasn
t there an owner/driver who took a film crew with him on a trip to Italy? beyond?? Middle East■■? Bob or maybe Barry someone? Sort of documentary/fly on wall job. Showed him giving bungs to customs officials etc. (nearly as professional as a football agent). Would have been 70
s? Think he hired in a Transcon to do the run (container). The Volvo stuck its snorkel thro the lights as you say during a publicity shoot for the film, back in the UK I think? Anyway, Hell Drivers was a great film. Maybe no flashy multi-wheelers with chrome stacks but great movie. Duel, good film too. Saw Convoy, and quite enjoyed it at the time, but wouldn
t want to see it again I`d think.

How DARE you sir.
Wash your mouth out with soap and water
For me Hell drivers and Dual. Hell Drivers is a poor film really but loads of atmosphere and very watchable. Dual is a classic. On the face a basic truck film, underneath it’s not really about a truck at all. It’s just symbolic stuff. After that he seemed to go down a different route as most Spielberg films are terrible American predictable “message” films.
It’s not a film about trucks but it has a truck in it, Thelma and Louise. Stunningly shot and features a really gorgeous Kenworth T600 tanker with a cracking backing track (BB King, better not look down). The first clip is slightly cut down

Thelma & Louise is an absolute classic. Lovely clean truck jockeyed by a dirty a-hole. (We can all think of contenders for that role.) Are there any trucks in “Easy Rider”? Not a great film, in it`s own right, IMHO, but a great sound track!
