Its high time VOSA took an interest in fasttracs and tractors in general, the law is being flouted day in and day out with these vehicles, no test , no operators license, rebated fuel, towing MOT failed artic trailers with no number plates, often without a proper braking system, over loaded and driven by young kids, its an absolute joke.
I,m amazed there are not more accidents involving thes vehicles which do not meet construction and use regulations for highway use.
A local haulier, who is also a farmer pulled into a VOSA checkpoint and had a go about these matters of the use of tracters and was told there was nothing they could do, as they did not come under their jurisdiction . Its time the law was changed.
The do have a problem with them in Northern Ireland being used for commercial pourposes and in fairness I did see the DOE, they are the NI version of VOSA, pull four of them over in Coleraine a few years ago. All were pulling construction plant and all the drivers were wearing hi-viz and the like… didn’t look too much like farmers going to mart.
From what I know to use one for commercial uses you have to have tax, white diesel and have a Class One driving licence.
