Falling asleep at the wheel.

Darb:
I drive nights, so when I feel myself getting tired I get the the old fella out and have a bit of a play, gets the heart beating and blood pumping so wakes ya up a treat  it’s ok until ya realise you have a two hour drive in front of you, sorting the curtains out is fun with proper arm ache ha ha it Does work tho

I do stop if the office phones, to carry on would just be wrong

Comment from Mrs. D: ‘Urgh’

And then after some thought: ‘Surely that’s no good, cos most blokes, 3 seconds after shooting their load are sound asleep!’

Can’t fault the logic.

not proud but in the early 80s when running from northern ireland - i did ,stranraer to the moss cafe(carlisle) and not remember a thing about the trip,
and found fast asleep over steering at a cardlock truck stalled, lights on…
saw an elephant ,middlelane on shap!!
was on with a firm that you got your rest at traffic lights!!
after the elephant …i saw the light so to say and went to a much better company.
jimmy.

My last job, on nights, remember coming upto to Spittles on A14, next thing I knew I was going past Newmarket services, no recollection of that part of the journey. Pulled over for a break pretty much straight after. Scared the crap out of me.

Can’t say as I have ever fallen asleep at the wheel while moving but I have on several occasions woken from a power nap in the drivers seat, panicked, grabbed the wheel and leapt on the brakes. Only to find I was parked in a lay-by with the engine off.

ive done that once. woke up suddenly when another truck backed into the space in front off me. i heard the brakes, seen the brake lights and started stamping on my brakes  scared the crap out of myself.
