What I don’t get about this is the fact he got stuck again just round the corner, surely the police would have known there’s no way he’s going to get through those roads. Why not back him out the way he came?

After he got himself stuck at Rosehill, he should have been escorted back to the main road, as hes clearly incapable of taking anything bigger than a transit out …
Instead of turning a left into Brooklands, which left him with only a very tight right turn into Constitution Hill, he should have (been made to) turn right into Ffynone road, which would have left either Bullin’s lane (if he could have made the turn into it), or a bit further down, St. James’s gardens/St. James’s Crescent, both to get back to the A4118.
What I don’t understand, is why hes got stuck where he did. The Tesco in Uplands is on the main road (that A4118), and has a straight approach from either the town centre or the Western end of swansea (if hes multidropping a few shops) . He’ll certainly have some serious e planning to do.
Can’t say I know the area but if you look at Street view alarm bells should be ringing as soon as you’re turning off the main road a4118.
Yes anybody can make a mistake and miss a turning etc… But to try and take a corner that is obviously too tight is just stupid, - hazards on and back she goes…
I assume he’s come along a4118 and turned up mount pleasant road then onto terrace road got to the left turn at rose hill. Why would you then attempt to take that corner in a artic?
Jesus you have to have instinct for these things or you’re [zb].
Any way police should have made him reverse all the way back to pen-y-graig rd follow it round in a loop to sketty and back on a4118?
Police just as much to blame as the poor obviously inexperienced driver certainly for the second attempt anyway.

If the police made the driver reverse like you’ve suggested then they would have to take responsibility for any damage caused by doing so, otherwise no driver would agree to do it

I know the area well, and cant understand why he would have gone that way. Unless, he did a delivery at the Tesco Express on La Bech Road( the A4118), at the bottom end of Mountpleasant, and wanted to get to the Uplands Tesco, and because La Bech Rd is a one way street, looked on a map, and thought ’ if I turn left up Mount Pleasant, then first left, first left, and right back onto the A4118 to Uplands…
I will agree, that the driver needs a pat on the back for holding his cool, despite ■■■■■■■ up monumentally. I think the local Heddlu needs to take a slice of the blame, for letting a driver who obviously doesn’t know the area, loose to get stuck again.
But that does not negate the fact that the driver ■■■■■■ up, on a job, where such ■■■■ ups are very hard to achieve. All shops are in known locations, and as far as I’m aware, all runs have directions to the shops. It’s not like he’s looking for a building site, or a delivery, with a postcode or address that’s a bit ‘general directiony’. In a job like this, if you get of the route, you stop and check. Not take a side street, and keep going until you’re stuck.
Would those store directions be in multiple languages?
If i moved to another country i’d hopefully have a decent grasp of the language fairly quickly, but store directions in Romainian or Latvian wouldn’t be so easy coupled with all the signs, if there are any.
Some are assuming this poor sod was an EE, but for all we know he may have been a localish lad and it was simple inexperience after taking a wrong turn that caused this.
I’ve got myself in some right situations over the years, but luckily always managed to extract myself without major mishap, a lot of that is luck and you do make a lot of your own luck.
Us longer term drivers didn’t have the sheer numbers of parked vehicles to negotiate around when we were learning the job either.
Also, this aggressive society wasn’t such a thing back in the day, if we dropped a clanger other drivers of cars and vans tended to make allowances, these days if you happen to get in the wrong lane it’s almost a criminal offense and the cameras come out or some fools uploads your mistake to youtube , i’m glad i started when i did and not learning the job now.
I’ve done quite a bit of supermarket work on the agencies and where multi-drops were concerned the only routes given to me were bits of paper with directions from the depot to the shop…not one shop to the next, so probably easy for this to happen with a relative newbie.
