in my younger days i have had all sorts of gear off the loads, power tools, shoes, drinks, videos, sweets and chocolates, furniture, wood, aluminium mesh, car parts, clothes just about anything i thought i could use or sell but i came to realise that it wasn’t worth the hassle of climbing in the back of the trailer and sifting through the stuff then trying to cover your tracks, just for a few extra quid and the headache of wondering if you would ever get a really smart warehouse bloke who was on the ball and spotted what was done before signing your papers and letting you go, everyone and anyone can change so i hope nobody holds this confession against me, it was a long time ago and i was oh so young then.

NOW… When I worked for the MOD, that was a different kettle of fish… Stores was seen as a ‘perk’ of the job… EVERYONE had something away, that’s just how it was… !!! But it seemed different, cuz you knew YOUR tax had paid for it…Luv
Chrisie…
ain’t that the truth!!!.. i still have a very full attic with lots of green gear in it
My nephew worked for a VERY well known electrical retailer based in Newark and signed for a parcel but the dumb guy from the parcel company left 3 boxes instead of 1 so he decided to have the extra 2 boxes as a bonus and put them in his car…
We had a brand new top of the range P.C. in the house for ages ;)…
when i was working as a cargo handler at stansted airport, a few of the lads and a shift supervisor started helping themselves, 747’s coming in from japan and korea loaded with ps2s, digi cameras and handicams, dvd players and all other electrical goodies. then they started with the ups stuff cut irish crystel going out to the usa, even taking limited edition engraved stuff with other peoples on
then they had a go at royal mail as well britania music stuff etc etc.
they got rumbled by customs and the old bill, got off with 150hrs community service, suspended sentances and the sack obviously and no chance of ever working on an airport again.
i was an agy driver for walls ice cream for about 4 months one summer, and other drivers were nicking off the loads, they got caught and prosicuted all for a couple of boxes of magnums which had they asked could have been bought for cost, ie next to nothing.
on this job the driver was responsable for all cash collested on cod deliveries any shortfall came out the drives pocket.
one vanboy i had with me decided he wanted to make a few quid and as there had been one monumental ■■■■ up, decided he would do a deal with the bloke who we were delivering to, and lost a pallet as it had been stored at another drop most of the day. he didnt ask me before hand as i would have refused as i was only 21 at the time and didnt want a police record and to lose my job.
he did the deal and came back to the truck and handed me £30 when he told me what he had done i hit the roof as the driver was responsable not the van boy, i made him give me his share and took it back to matey and told him to stick it.
couldnt retreve the lost pallet as the paperwork was all signed, report the vanboy when i got back and he was sacked, he wasnt much use anyway as we was a drinker and i ended up doing most of his work aswell.
i then progressed to van sales, still on the agy and had boxes of ahem how shall i say broken samples which may have been broken by me
i used to give them to customers to try and picked up extra orders that more than covered them, but it was against company policy to do it.
i may have had the odd few to eat when sat in traffic on hot days, and used them to bribe female traffic wardens as well which i shall say works a treat
amazing how long you can stay on a double yellow for a double choc magnum
