Hello, heres a clipping from a Classic and Vintage Commercials magazine from March 1996,I wonder if it got saved.,Cheers Bubbs,
Wow, that’s a new pic of it, Marc! This was NGC chassis No.29069. It was fitted with a 290 big-cam ■■■■■■■ and operated by ■■■■■■■ as a test-bed vehicle for that engine. It passed via Vee & Inline Diesels of Daventry to Pountains Heavy Haulage, who used it as a truck-racing transporter round Europe. It then passed to Watts Trucks of Newport who continued to use it for racing duties from whom it then passed to Redcap Transport, again on racing haulage. It finally passed to the sadly very recently late Mick Jones of Jona Transport, who scrapped it.
Ro
Morning Robert,
I reckon that advert is one of the Hudsons from Telford, explains the missing engine and box as there was a good price for the 14 litre ■■■■■■■ on the export market. The cab was yellow when Jona (R.I.P) owned it? Cheer’s Pete
Yes, you’re right about the yellow cab in Redcap livery. Jona sent me several pics of the scrapping of this unit, all of which are on this thread in various places!. Cheers, Ro

Oeps…skipped one picture
Possibly taken during Brussels’ Motor Show in 1973 to celebrate the first sales in a restaurant?
From left to right, Ken Beard (Sales Manager Export), Eddie Deleers (General Sales Manager of
■■■■■■■ Distributor Belgium), Dai Davies (General Service Manager) and Peter de Jong (European
Operations Consultant) from Holland.
Correction on this post…second from left is not Eddie Deleers but Mr. J. Jannes, Technical director
with ■■■■■■■ Distributo Belgium and highly involved with the assembly of the 5MW from CKD-kits.
Long time ago there was a crisp conversation and discussion on a twin-steer ERF-tractor. In 1968 the
show on Earls Court had the presence as per attached picture. A year later this chassis was also on
show in Brussels. It had no cab to give the visitors a better view to the chassis, (air suspension) and
in both case a ■■■■■■■ NHK (K for UK) 220 was installed.
Oh yeah, for God sake Anorak, copyright by Commercial Motor
More to come soon as some bits and bytes out of the CDB-archives came in

By the time this genuine NGC has been restored there will be an English drivers’ handbook in the glove compartment!

Right word, but different language! Chabuk is Turkish for ‘quickly’ or ‘let’s go!’: ie the equivalent of the Arabic Yallah!

I have been told that this chassis had the middle axle SS or self steering…but I only recall/recognize
this from last/rear axles, like the FIAT single tyre back-axles had, so following the curve
Not sure if this pic has been on before Robert? N.M.P

Thanks for that Pete! But yes, I popped it on here many pages ago. It was taken by Frenchman Phillipe Methurin and the unit is now in preservation on UK soil
Not sure if this picture (not mine) was posted earlier…but here two NGC’s of the first and loyal
Dutch transportcompany of Vermeulen. Probably the picture is from Leo Mes

Stablemates of the subby from Cees Willemstein and I again got a confirmation that at least TWO ERF NGC’s
had the livery of Goedkoop & De Geus…or in brief DAMCO GG Transport, then still running for ICI.
A coincidence or not…Van Steenbergen also started with Volvo F12-F10 shortly after the ERF NGC’s early 80s

Well, this mystery possibility still remains No.82 on my register of NGCs. Let’s hope we can find some evidence. From whom did you get your ‘confirmation’? How reliable is your source? R

- Own observation in the mid-seventies when a convoy of two NGC’s was quite regular on the E34, dealing with ICI-transports
- Contacts with photographer Piet Pietjouw
- Comments from various on Jan van Hooijdonk Transport from Steenbergen (see pictures with the Damco GG-Scania and the ICI-bins
My expectation however is that the other NGC (so not the Willemstein’s) changed colours and/or owner as Damco GG Transport also
had another big chemical customer (Dow Chemiclas from Terneuzen) and was forced to change colours to the according housestyles.

Thank you. All worthy sources, especially with regard to your own observations; though photographic and documentary evidence is still lacking. I still believe we’ll find that evidence and my mind (and register) remains open to this elusive unit. I completely understand the Dutch system of running in customers’ liveries because we did a similar thing here in the UK. Incidentally, with regard to Dow Chemicals in Terneuzen, I used to deliver there sometimes when I was driving Westermann wagon & drags (aanhangen wagens)
. Evidence of this unit will undoubtedly turn up eventually. Good luck
! R
Stablemates…my estimation is that about 10 trailers were equiped to do this ICI-transport, both
with own chassis and subcontractors like Willemstein
Here’s an oddity I found on the net. It seems to be a model of some kind, or the graphics for one. Produced by Hum3D. No idea of the scale.
It’s a rendered CAD model. The rendering is better than the modelling- there are a few detail inaccuracies, as you may notice. Very good work, nevertheless.

I know very little about CAD. Here’s a link for anyone else who doesn’t know much about it:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer-aided_design
And yes, I noticed detail inaccuracies like the absence of a vent above the windscreen. R
Well…progress and it shows that 3D CAD gives very good results!
I guess Jack Cooke had this proto-type/model in mind when he
gave birth to the European-strategy for the mid seventies. Not
knowing (or expecting) acceptance for middle-east-transports.
Very good details and the rest of the result is a matter of small
extra’s…roof-vents, rear-lights, decals etc. WELL DONE !!!
In Lorries of Arabia 2 Van Steenbergen was mentioned as ex-Krupp- and ERF-dealer. Herewith
a picture taken from the main street with a view on the old house and garage. Pay attention
to the ERF- and Krupp-lightboards above the garage-door. A small remark…Krupp was sold
to Mercedes-Benz in 1968 and Belgian-dealers proceeded business with another marque or
discontinued their business. As known C.D.B. From Brussels (before 1962 Ets. A. Denonville)
were appointed ERF-importer and that had nothing to do with the Krupp-organisation. Krupp
was imported by S.A. Camions Krupp N.V. from Anderlecht at Digue de Canal along the canal.
Van Steenbergen bought all relevant stock in 1968 to serve and service their own Krupp-fleet.
