The Lgv driver should not have driven after being hit on the head.
Ambo should have been called.
He later felt unwell but while driving ,he could have passed out.

Your point is? Obviously not everyone is an angel but to knock a man unconscious who is simply doing his job is bang out of order. Jog on.
As is killing someone because they prefer to cycle & may hold you up for a few seconds.
Eh? Which cyclist in this story has been killed then?
chester:
An outgoing/ adventurous type of guy will have 3-4 bike’s. I know plenty who do.
1 a commuter bike, ride up sit and beg type, with mudguards and lights, panniers etc.
2 a road racing bike for group rides on a weekend.
3 a off road/mountain/downhill type bike for a fantastic blast in the country
4 a single speed/fixie for training/ winter commuter use.
He will also perhaps may have an active wife AKA THE TOWN BIKE who may join him on a ride on a weekend. She will obviously be attractive has he will be nice and slim as opposed to fat and bulbous with all the cycling he does.
They get married have 2.4 kids who have also been given bikes to have family rides to keep fit, get active, live life etc
That’s 6.5 bikes to register.
The idea of a bicycle is that it’s a method of transport quick and easy for everybody. Who’s going to start funding or placing the infrastructure for this, or for that matter who is going to police it?

In this case nobody, usually it’s the cyclist that gets killed by the driver, that was the point. In this case the big tough driver got ■■■■■ slapped by a cyclist, what a hoot.

Bet you wouldn’t be saying that if it was you who got laid out…
Slackbladder:
I think you have a bit of a simplistic view of what licensing cyclists, because that’s what it would be, would achieve. I don’t see much evidence of licence plates stopping cars, vans, busses & trucks from blowing red lights, speeding, talking on the phone, driving in bus lanes or parking on pavements so I don’t buy your idea that it would change cyclists behaviour. The type of cyclist that does all the naughty things the trucking members don’t like is hardly the type to sprint to the post office & pay for any licence plates are they.
These ideas have been tried before and, as I’ve said before, all have been dropped because of the cost of running the scheme versus how much it makes.
Vehicles are licenced because as soon as you put an engine in something & take it on the road it becomes a life threatening machine, cycles in the main, however annoying you find them, are not.
You don’t see much evidence? well do some home work ring for insurance on a white transit van for example first time say its not sign written with your company name… Then call back give same details then say its sign written and look how much the reduction is your looking at 5-10% off for making your vehicle more identifiable, and no it won’t be a total end all to bad riding but like cars its stops a good portion from misbehaving and driving like idiots but it stops alot of people as they can be traced. With people not getting licences for there bikes well same as for cars confiscated and crushed.
And the point about vehicles are licensed as they become life threatening machines is a load of crap so your saying no cyclist has every injured a pedestrian? or caused a accident? I know for a fact between 2005-2009 10 pedestrians was killed and 262 seriously injured by cyclists. Its hard to find latest figures don’t mean it don’t happen as well its hard to find facts about accidents caused by cyclists problem cause there hard to identify. and your going to say its only a small number but still happens?
How many motorist/ pedestrians have been threatened or bullied by cyclists how do you report it? what are the chances of them actually been found?
if your all for the cyclists and the greater good like all the speel you dish on here you wouldn’t object to reg plates you would endorse it to shun away the cyclists giving rest a bad name.
My question for you is why are you so opposed to it what are you doing you shouldn’t be doing?
My moneys on your one of these ■■■■ cyclists who flaunt the law and do what they like whist lecturing people on there wrong doings ignoring your own and your opposed to it as you don’t wish to be traced… probably got a helmet cam too and you go around yelling out reg numbers of anyone so dare’s look at you funny
I don’t need to ring around for insurance on a van I don’t own, I see plenty evidence of bad driving every day cycling to work & then trucking all day, if you don’t see that then you don’t get on the road much.
Take a breath, go back & read what I have written. I wrote " in the main", this means that, while it may happen occasionally, it doesnt happen very often. And where did you get your “fact” about deaths caused by cyclists, I do know that there has been only 1 death caused by a cyclist in the last 5 years, still far too many.
Oh and you have lost your cash as well, but it’s nice to see you can make up a story fit for trucknets paranoid squad. Ive never said i was against licencing, just pointed out a couple of reasons why it wont work? I stick to the laws of the road you see & I don’t own a helmet cam, do you know how much they cost?
Them bloody cyclists hey!
You wouldn’t get a lorry driver gettin his wires mixed up, or ever flounting the law would you!
Your point is? Obviously not everyone is an angel but to knock a man unconscious who is simply doing his job is bang out of order. Jog on.
He wouldn’t have got knocked unconscious had he not been out of his cab.
Come on man, we all know what’s happened here, he’s got out giving it the big ‘I AM’ and had his arse handed to him on a platter.
Yes, nobody deserves assaulting whilst in work, but he’s a truck driver not a copper, so what was he doing getting out of his cab to explain the laws of the road to a cyclist?
Personally, I’m weary of getting out of my vehicle, you never know who the other person is or what they’re carrying. I have had to on occasion in the past, and after the red mist has gone I’ve always wondered ‘what if…’

Let me knock you out and see how you like it. Both parties are stupid but people lose there cool but nobody should be knocked out end off
In that case you should stay in your cab & keep you’re mouth shut then. Ive had it before when a tool nearly knocked me off the bike, when i knocked on his roof to get his attention he started mouthing off & told me to pull over so i did, & got off the bike & put it against a wall, he stopped, looked at me & drove off.
It’s odd how most on here thought it was funny when that cyclist mouthed off to a guy in a sports car & got cuffed for his trouble a couple of weeks ago. Now it’s a driver getting cuffed it’s not funny anymore, unless you’re a cyclist that is.

But that silly cyclist didn’t get knocked out did he? a driver got knocked out for doing this.
The driver pulled over to allow for a car that was approaching in the opposite direction. At this point he noticed a push bike coming up behind him; concerned that the cyclist may not have seen the car coming he held his arm out of the window and flagged the bike down.
At this point the cyclist became verbally abusive to the lorry driver telling him shouldn’t be on such a narrow lane. The driver briefly got out of his lorry and spoke to the cyclist before returning to his cab. When he returned to his lorry the cyclist came up behind him and swung the cab door into the side of the lorry driver’s head causing him to lose consciousness and fall to the ground. The cyclist then rode off.
Looks a bit OTT from the cyclist, but you seem to think it’s ok and that the driver shouldn’t of got out of his cab to advice why he had flagged him down. OTT reaction from a cyclist that could of killed the driver with the bang to the head, but yet you think it’s ok because he is a cyclist.
Sod the fact he is a cyclist. Sod the fact he is a HGV driver. NO one should have to put up with it. NO one should get knocked out after trying to wave someone down and then get spoken to by a silly cyclist who thinks they have a right to tell others where they should and shouldn’t be. No one has to put up with it END OFF

No, he was punched to the ground though, a bang of the head and he’s been knocked out, what’s the difference? Oh yeah, the cyclist in the above issue was caught on film and we KNOW what happened there and the car driver was OTT for sure.

Yeah, I’m sure he ‘held his arm out of the window’ to flag the cyclist down and got out of his cab to explain why he’d attempted to flag him down after the cyclist was verbally abusive
As I’ve said many times, I can’t speak for all cyclists and I see some right idiots on cycles on an almost daily basis, but that doesn’t mean the above story is true does it?
