I have a bank account… did I choose this bank because of great interest rates or the nice colour of the credit cards, no I chose this bank because it had very comfortable seats to sit on and good heating, no other reasons at all

I hope it’s not Multibank, as they are in troubles (too many relations with British Market).

there is 1 thing i will say about poland that i found when i was out there, the winter is much harsher than here,i have driven on uncleared snow covered roads,i have photos of it,but the poles kept on plodding on unlike here where it comes to a stand still,it gets much colder in poland than the uk and it lasts for weeks not just a few days,i have spoke to poles in the uk about this and they prefer our climate in the winter anyway.so for them driving here is much better.

I do not prefere your climate (at last scottish one) in the winter. The real winter with real snow is what I miss the most.

And yes, that’s true. 5 cm of snow and it’s disaster - schools are closed, trains are not operating. 10cm of snow and they closing A9 to Inverness.

Last winter I was night trunking on the rigid to Inverness. On the way back I had to stop for my 45 and it was about 4am, usually it started snowing at this time. They were closing the road with me inside and after my 45 I had all untouched snowy road for myself. That was great, I did even some drifting from time to time

I just LOVE to drive on the snow. In the winter I used to avoid main roads in Poland, as they are usually salted, so snow melts and then freez back into black ice, while on the minor roads you have good hardened snow… If you follow few basic rules you can drive on it quite safe and fast.

yes your right you can drive on snow its like mud,its ice you have to watch for,so if i went to poland would i get a job? 22 years european work, lived in belgium 6 years, got the experience.

Yes, I think you should manage to find a job

thank you,i havent been all over poland but here are the places i have…warsaw, ldoz, lesno, poznan, stettin, elblag, but i have a polish map from poland my mate was given 2 about 18 months ago in katowice.the luxembourg company i used to work for did the odd pland run,i never got to go for them…now the borders are down its easy to transit all of the eec and work.

ken57:
stettin

Szczecin!!! The best way to insult people living there is to call their city with old german name!

As for the borders down: if you are self-employed here in UK, you don’t need to set up other self-employed company in Poland - you can provide your services allover the EC, so it’s even easier for these ones, who don’t know polish law etc.

and what if your from the borders up Orys?

V8 Passion:
well tomorrow is my first day without work thanks to the foreigners…

Your first day?!! I’ve lost about a fortnights work in total since just before christmas and am on short time because of them…i.e they aint sending over anything for us to move, or arn’t buying anything from here for us to send over !!

Out of interest do you know which foreigner it is that is doing your days work tomorrow V8 ?

Colin12:

Not me, that’s sure. I was offered one warehouse shift this week, but I turned it down hoped for something better… And now I can cook my hope for dinner, as there was nothing to fill my pot

brit pete wrote, drivers should try and prove themselves to get a job,ok besides references take me for example, plenty of experience here and in eu,cpc national/international,get by in bits of french and italian, can drive lhd/rhd trucks, yet i have been let down for 2 jobs this year,am i over experienced? makes you think what hauliers want,a driver with abit of savvy or is it just bums on seats■■?

If it’s a days work posting informative and amusing stuff on here instead of ill-informed racist rants, I think it might be Orys!

But in this case that would be me on new post created instead of his post, as there are different skills required. Something like reducing lorry drivers and ermploying bus drivers instead. It’s not the case of me doing his job…

But, hey, is that really possible to be paid for posting on this forum? Where to apply?

can i ask V8… should i be here in UK??

Too true Orys, anyway no need for another cabbage in Poland, Posh Spice has to stay.

So i dig up that thread as I want to share my new experiences with you

So: As agencies dried out with work and I can’t afford to sit at home and waiting for call I was searching for some more dependable. And so I found: Market Research Interviewer.

Crap job, but they pay decent money for first 6 weeks - 52 quids for 6 hour job is not so bad. And they are meeting my travel costs.

Off course it’s not as good - it’s paid hourly for first 6 weeks only and then they want to pay pro-rata for completed interviews, which is, in my hombly opinion not fair, as they advertised themselves on jobcentre website as it’s hourly paid work. Anyway when I found it I thought to myself “OK, so that’s mean I have 6 weeks of proper paid job” and as there is opportunity to travel far north to Scotland I would want to do some trips for them.

But after that I can’t see my future with them too brightly as the last thing I would like to do is to beg people to give me some interview to fullfill my quote: I think if you want to spend your time to answer some question - that’s ok but if you don’t that’s ok too. And there is always a risk that people won’t talk with me and then I was walking arround and had no result I am loosing money. It’s pushing down the risk of doing business - as I am still doing my job, walking arround for six hours. I have nothing against being paid pro rata to my work, but it must be dependant of me how much work I can do.

But what was interesting for me: before we started we had to complete 4 days training - all travel expenses paid, tea, coffe, lunch everything included, people from far away from Glasgow had even hotel paid… Then you have 6 weeks period when you are paid per hour.

There was plenty of people on the interview moaning about there is no jobs, that they are sitting at home and getting bored, but when 12 people were qualified for training only 9 confirmed that they are willing to participate and then only 6 turned up, while 7th bothered herself to call the trainer that they resigned.

Of that 6 of us only 5 stayed to the end of training.

And i sipmly CAN’T understand that. They are moaning that they SITTING AT HOME AND HAVE NOTHING TO DO. Then they don’t want to participate in free training (I learned a lot from that, not only about this job, but about british society, common laws and etc) and now I have 6 weeks of sure income and then chance for maybe not a work of my dreams but still some chance to pay the bills).

If it’s so bad and there is a chance to earn about 8.50 per hour for 6 weeks they should try to get through doors and windows, yet company is struggling to find people to work…

Why?
