So i dig up that thread as I want to share my new experiences with you
So: As agencies dried out with work and I can’t afford to sit at home and waiting for call I was searching for some more dependable. And so I found: Market Research Interviewer.
Crap job, but they pay decent money for first 6 weeks - 52 quids for 6 hour job is not so bad. And they are meeting my travel costs.
Off course it’s not as good - it’s paid hourly for first 6 weeks only and then they want to pay pro-rata for completed interviews, which is, in my hombly opinion not fair, as they advertised themselves on jobcentre website as it’s hourly paid work. Anyway when I found it I thought to myself “OK, so that’s mean I have 6 weeks of proper paid job” and as there is opportunity to travel far north to Scotland I would want to do some trips for them.
But after that I can’t see my future with them too brightly as the last thing I would like to do is to beg people to give me some interview to fullfill my quote: I think if you want to spend your time to answer some question - that’s ok but if you don’t that’s ok too. And there is always a risk that people won’t talk with me and then I was walking arround and had no result I am loosing money. It’s pushing down the risk of doing business - as I am still doing my job, walking arround for six hours. I have nothing against being paid pro rata to my work, but it must be dependant of me how much work I can do.
But what was interesting for me: before we started we had to complete 4 days training - all travel expenses paid, tea, coffe, lunch everything included, people from far away from Glasgow had even hotel paid… Then you have 6 weeks period when you are paid per hour.
There was plenty of people on the interview moaning about there is no jobs, that they are sitting at home and getting bored, but when 12 people were qualified for training only 9 confirmed that they are willing to participate and then only 6 turned up, while 7th bothered herself to call the trainer that they resigned.
Of that 6 of us only 5 stayed to the end of training.
And i sipmly CAN’T understand that. They are moaning that they SITTING AT HOME AND HAVE NOTHING TO DO. Then they don’t want to participate in free training (I learned a lot from that, not only about this job, but about british society, common laws and etc) and now I have 6 weeks of sure income and then chance for maybe not a work of my dreams but still some chance to pay the bills).
If it’s so bad and there is a chance to earn about 8.50 per hour for 6 weeks they should try to get through doors and windows, yet company is struggling to find people to work…
Why?
