Inflation in cost of living is the problem. wages haven’t risen to match this therefore need to work more to keep up.
just remember they will take into acount silly oclock starts if you happen to be late on occasion etc,but they wont take silly oclock starts into account if you fall asleep at the wheel and smash the truck up,youll be sacked, some have,im not judging you,ive been there done the 4 hrs kip,im invinsible, itll never happen too me,by the grace of god it didnt, but it was so bloody close, really shook me up,made me realise that £2.70 for getting up at 1 a.m instead of 4 a.m wasnt worth it,odd weeks i do it,but tell them straight not permanent,if you have a word with s.c,explain the situation he should sort it,its your call, but just be carefull,it just takes a second from thinking your fine,to opening your eyes and think oh no
I took a lot of advice from this and decided to have 6 hours a night sleep minimum, you know what, those 2 hours extra made a massive difference.
feel much better and certainly didn’t start nodding.
Embarrassing Bodies is looking for 6 lorry drivers from the same firm to take part in a scientific investigation that looks into the speed of digestion and the relationship this has to healthy bowel movements.
My name’s Lindsay and I’m contacting you from the team that make Embarrassing Bodies for Channel 4. I’ve really enjoyed reading through the Embarrassing Bodies thread - it’s great to be part of a talking point. I’m posting because we’re looking for 6 lorry drivers to take part in an investigation into healthy bowel movements and I hope that some of you guys would be interested in being involved
The experiment — The volunteers will swallow a digital marker which is then tracked by a device which can map out how far the marker has travelled. Essentially the volunteers will get a unique insight into the inner workings of their body as well as some tailored advice about how to continue leading a healthy lifestyle.
We are specifically looking for men for this filming, so a group of about 5 or 6 guys would work really well. Timescale wise, we are not looking to do this until the Summer and the filming would probably take place over the course of a day, where we would come to your base / depot to film in the morning and then follow them through the day before analysing the results at the end of the afternoon.
If you’re interested in being involved or would like some more information about the project please email me - l.hinton@mavericktv.co.uk
Thank you,
Lindsay

What, of being overweight and slow? The only positive thing you’ve got over me is that you’re probably fitter than I am as you’ve been working whilst I am still lighter than you
However, saying that, when I did work ‘nights’ I often worked 1900 Hrs to 0600, with 2030 to 2230 being ‘break’ then another break at about 0300 of about 15 minutes, clearing off the site at about 0430, another 15m at nearby services to pack everything away, a coffee then back on the road and finishing in the yard at about 0600, often just fueling up and handing the keys to the day driver.
Back home, bed for 7-8am, 6-7 hours sleep, then up and doing stuff. Breakfast when I got up, snack before work, and a snack at the later end of the break before work. 6 weeks on, a week off then either back onto lates or days or whatever they wanted
