Does any one on here know if there is still such a thing, if so what sort of rates are they now and are they tax free?
A few firms years ago used to pay dark money it was rare then and rarer now. was prob 20 - 30 pence per hour before 6am
If we start before 5am we get an extra £10.00. It has to be agreed first and it is not tax free.
If its before 6.30 we give £5. Something that started years ago and has carried on to this day
We have £2.00 extra p/h from 6pm to 6 am so if you start before 6am…
‘Dark’ money (for daytime drivers) used to be time and a quarter before 06:00 & after 20:00 (or 22:00?) twenty-odd years ago, so yes it was taxable.

ASDA Washington used to pay time + 20% from 1800-2200 and time +25% from 2200 to 0600. Don’t know if that’s changed but contracts vary from depot to depot.
£10 if you start before 4.00am,i told em to keep it,you obviously need it more than me !
£2 per hour between 6pm and 6am and another £2 per hour between midnight friday and midnight sunday.
Personally though I never start before 4am and try to be parked for the night by five or six at the latest. Don’t work saturdays and only the odd sunday so I don’t get much of it!
Any work I do from 6pm until 6am attracts a premium it varies by client.
When I were a lad (cue violins) BRS use to pay an extra 6d (two-&-a-half pence) per hour if we started before 0600. Tax deductible, of course. On the other hand, if we were required to make a phone call out of hours, we got an extra four hours pay. Don’t see much of that these days!
We get dark money, extra £2 an hour between 8pm and 6am

Wasn’t that in the little red book we all used to have? It was a T&G agreement I think.
£4 ph extra if we work between 00:00 and 05:00 but for the whole shift …
