DVLA Medical Time

Absolutely. That’s why you should always have your car serviced at a main dealer rather than a well equipped garage with fully trained and certified mechanics who’ll do the same job for half the price.

How the bloody hell do you compare a car service with peoples health , these cheap medicals you talk of as being as good as a doctors are not , nowhere near it and i know because I’ve done one & to this day regret it , £50 at a hotel next to pennels garden centre , Lincoln , 2 mins , are you diabetic , not sure , no then , eye sight , not sure , ok , it wwas cheap but in no way could you call it a medical , all it was was a easy
Way for some bloke purporting to be a doctor to earn a easy £50 , couldn’t give a [zb] about whether I or the conveyor belt of drivers comming through the doors health was at the level required to pass a hgv medical ,or give a [zb] about our general health , doctors totally the opposite in my experience , follow up tests are done if not happy , you won’t pass until you are fit enough too ,
Mind I don’t know why I’m replying to someone who thinks the answer to a broken seat on a lorry is put a seat cover on it , god knows what state the tip ( car ) you drive is in !!

That’s the whole point of it you clown! :unamused:

If you want a proper medical, go to your GP and pay 3x as much.

Much like the DCPC most drivers don’t care for it. It’s simply an annoying but necessary box-ticking exercise in order to carry on working, hence why the cheap services exist as there’s a market for them.

Cheap D4 medical + :bulb: free NHS health check nhs.uk/conditions/nhs-healt … check-new/
Sorted

For anyone in the North-east, D4 medicals on Team Valley at a certain training provider (PM me for details) by an NHS GP, who will also see you at his surgery in Whitley Bay for the same price - he’s even been known to see people at his home address near Morpeth. £45 If you can get a D4 cheaper, I’d like to see it.

I’ve just paid £87 for mine - first time with this GP who specialises in medicals now she’s retired from general practice - money well spent. She did a urine test for diabetes and checked for blood traces, too. Then blood pressure, resting heart rate and then checked out the ticker with a stethoscope to make sure that was OK. Height weight, eyes and a general chat about my health. More than is required for sure but as she says this is usually the only time drivers get a health MOT. She’s uncovered hidden issues in the past like bladder cancer and prostate problems.

And she got me in in less than 24hrs - what a gal.

Also 15 mins away.

I’ve also sent my forms Special Delivery and I carry the ticket with me.

Barnetby Medicals in Brigg, Lincolnshire been specialising in LGV & PSV medicals for 15 years that I know of, I’ve had my last 3 done there, when you book it you give him permission to access your medical records with your own GP, so he’s no fly by night.
£55 including eye test and they have D4 forms and print all the answers on them and go through them vigorously with you to ensure there’s no mistakes.
Out of interest I rung my own doctors surgery and asked how much a medical was, they quoted £140 and don’t include eye test so you have to go pay an optician.
Why anybody pays the scandalous prices that are being quoted on here is beyond me.
