Driving in snow

Some very good advice, I’m glad I asked now. I drive a 8 wheel iveco tipper on a 51 plate. The exhauster floor button is in a right stupid place, it’s in front of the steering column where it goes through the floor. So I guess that if I was to become stuck I could lift the body a bit to give me some weight on the rear end.

Newmercman, what highway do you run? I never thought about bridges freezing due to the cold air rising.

Thank you all for your replies and advice

I run in Canada mate, so I have snow for half the year

I just hang on and hope for the best

When you come to hill that maybe looks a bit steep turn off your traction control, you dont need it,the last thing you need is loosing speed when on the way up,a bit of spinning wont hurt,it could make the differance of getting over the hump of the hill and not,

8 wheel tipper■■?..if you get stuck in that no bugger else will be moving at all and every road will be blocked, only thing better than a double drive tipper for snow is a track layer.

Doesn’t have to look pretty, it just has to work. I’d rather see something like this than a driver scratching his head at the side of the road because he’s stuck and doesn’t have a clue what to do.

Oh you would rather see something like this would you, then i am afraid you dont have a clue, this EE numbty had more traction with his old summer tyres then this home made attemt at chains,he was given a 7000 kroner aprox 700 uk pounds fine,he was sliding backwards towards cars and he nearly caused a bad accident,he was then parked up and told to cough up with more dosh to purchase proper Scandinavian chains which would do the job properly, … . . tough old world aint it
