Union or Unity?
some seem confused or not read the info
I personelly would never join a âunionâ as I think they are just a bunch or upper class who do nothing to speak up for drivers, and possibly have no idea what goes on in the real world of trucking.
However I have joined this âunityâ which is being run by drivers working together, who know what is wrong and wants to see a difference.
It is UNITY which is working together, and not a UNION run by someone in a office that knows sod all.
Many mention the problem of EU Drivers taking up our Jobs.
Well I think the PDU have a UK at the end and so if enough join then maybe we can ask it tackle those issues, and maybe protect some of our jobs somehow.
If we do not speak as one and protect our jobs then the EEs will continue to take them over.
So some of you slagging the PDU do have an issue and it is the job security
Interesting,so are you saying the PDU do not allow non British citizens to become members?
There are a few polish lads in our place ,they get paid the same as usâŚnot less, they gained employment through successful assessment drives and interviews they didnât âtakeâ anyoneâs job and apart from one whoâs a little bit grumpy are good lads, would they be allowed to join the PDU or is it just the ones who are doing the job for less youâll discriminate against?

When I was at Stobartâs Rob, on one occasion I had to switch trailers at the Rugby depot. Whilst stood at the counter waiting for a planner to notice I was there, I looked down and noticed a list of drivers sellotapeâd on said counter.
The list was drivers who needed to sign something or other off. Out of the 45 or so names, there were a max of around 6 who were British. Appleton depot is going the same way, during the 5 months I was there, quite a few EEâs got a start.
The place I work now is a well known gaff. Full of EEâs. One English lad has come over from Jack Richards because he said he felt in a minority there, but he reckons its no better at this place.
Trust me Rob, we will see many more, and they are all happy as Larry at ÂŁ9 per hour. A Polish lad I worked with at P&H went over to Poland to do his class 1, and it cost peanuts! Trust me Rob, there will be many more coming.
Gotta agree with you there Beaver. Not saying these EE guys canât or arenât entitled to earn a wedge like the rest of us but they are keeping wages down because the money they are on is a lot more than they would get in some of these EE countries. Its the same at our place, the majority of our Class 1 are EE.
Every single thread comes down to Eastern Europeans, apparently is our fault to even breath and be alive
P.S. Cost of Class 1 or 2 is the same as UK compared to standard of living. Here the licence(training, exams, certificates) is coasting one average monthly salary. In UK is the same.
Well if you go in some African countries might coast half a peanut

Its not the drivers fault, its the companies. British companies getting round employing British drivers who want a decent wage because they know that can get an EE to do the same job for the money they want to pay. Its also the companies in EE that are undercutting the rest of Europe by paying their drivers peanuts. I donât have a problem with EE driving here as they have just as much right as I do to work here. I overheard through the grapevine that one of our shunters went to the TM to ask for a payrise only to be told that if he didnât like the job then they could always get a Pole to do it.

No one is saying that.
You make everyone sound like BNP loyalists.
There to many EE truck drivers or ware house staff with Fork ticket that wants to work for 6.50 hour soon to be 9 hour.
No one has got a problem with immigration as long as itâs controlled with skills and experience the country needs not a bunch of â â â â â â Romanians with a licence.
If you want to live here it should be the same immigration process as the rest of the world.
I donât see why British nationals who marry foreigners canât have there wifeâs here but the whole of the EE is got a free ticket.
There should be working visa and ID cards in place.

I donât blame you for wanting to come here for a better life. The blame lies squarely with greedy business owners who wish to keep wages low by employing workers who will work for less than what the natives will.
This has been going on for a very long time. The government allow it to happen (have to under EU law) and the problem is compounded by British workers sitting on benefits doing nothing because it pays more than doing a job an EE will do for chump change.
I can see why people feel anger towards EEs but itâs misplaced in my opinion.
Iâd rather ship them all back home and force our own scroungers into jobs. And make bosses pay a decent wage while were at it. Then, if thereâs any vacancies left, allow immigrants to fill the jobs we canât fill.
Shipping in god knows how many EEs while we have god knows how many unemployed people is dumb in the extreme. But youâd probably get called a lot of Ists and accused of lots of Isms if you tried to do anything about it.
I understand your frustration, just would like to direct your frustration at UK and EU governments. Instead every other comment is hate: âEE, flip flops, ship them back, polbulromhun, monkeys working for peanutsâ etc. Every comment concerning Eastern Europeans is derogatory or at least disrespectful.

You obviously do.
EU doesnât need your pensioners or alcoholic youth(tourists or employees) to.
What does âa bunch of Romanians with licences meansâ?

Actually, those drunken youths spend a lot of money, helping the local economy there,

This doesnât change the fact that they are not wanted. We have perfect tourist from Scandinavia, Germany and Russia, who refuse to come as before because drunk/drug Brits bring destruction to most resorts.
Being a driver who has done his fair share of continental work (I used to go to Anglesey at least once a week,itâs an island,itâs continental work)I know how hard it can be to visit a foreign country and not have a clue what people are talking about,I take my hat off to any fellow âcontisâ.

Thats somewhere in Europe by the same guy. Got to ask him about his flip flops though . On one of the clips(mov_1199) their trip is Hammerfast-Havoysund, the road is so narrow and snowy that there is no place to even pull over for toilet. youtube.com/watch?v=bK3B896i4k0

Now then why would Barrie need to be invited surely as founder of this scheme he would be the first here to answer questions, promote PDU and keep threads bumped up the 1st page.
Yep. Still no sign of him, just his henchmen and spokespeople. Yet he expects everyone else to put in effort and send him loads of money but canât be arsed putting in any effort himself here to promote his cause. And people actually think this is legitâ ? Open your eyes please.

Donât start me on EE,tossers supposed I have had my fibre broadband up and running on WednesdayâŚstill waiting now
Im with EE and believe me, when its up and running youâll find out it wasnt worth the wait!
Well at least I have something to look forward to then
Im maybe being a bit harsh. Theres next to no downtime, unlike Sky which went down more times than a ÂŁ5 â â â â â â , but I am supposed to be getting 59-60mps download and it feels no faster than the 8 I was getting before with standard BB. Their customer service is ok but they restrict the speed during peak times (to make it fairer apparently, you slow everyone down when they need to use it and allow it to be fast when everyone is asleep. Go figure!) and it can be a pain.
