Drivers - are we are own worst enemies

My boss drives as well and knows most of the places we go. He knows when someone is tossing it off or not. He also accepts we can get held up as well and never really hassles us. We all try to do our best for him because he slips in a bonus every now and again which is much appreciated.

I and my colleagues just do what we are paid to do and that is drive/deliver/collect! No one is shafted and everyone is happy - that’s not to say that sometimes it goes ■■■■ up and we all have to try and do miracles to get things done. Rough wi smooth and all that

Not naming names, but I’ve seen many drivers turn up for interviews with an established uk & European haulier only to say in the first few minutes, “I don’t do European & I don’t do nights out”.

It really shocks me the arrogance of some interviewees. We’ve got a low loader driver on at minute & he’s a real ambassador for the company. What ever the customer gives him, he takes! He came back last week with drainage, ballast, barriers & an excavator… I’m sure there are more drivers like it, it’s just the minority which tarnish the majority.

Does he do all that for £8 p/h?
