Just read this from the top & it begs the question, why?
Surely the bottom line in any business is money? Wages, Profit?
Surely there’s enough money to be made on agency work, Rugby, Daventry & Lutterworth etc with no stress or responsibility?
As far as I can see, you’ll be no better off, probably worse off?

Well, several store deliveries could be made during that time and any
delays would be charged for as demurrage. The next trailer would be
ready and waiting at the RDC so no delays there !
Are you talking about the same RDCs I have been to… trailer and load always waiting for you and not the other way round, and 3+ hours waiting time charged as demurrage?!
In any case, if you hire a unit and then work it 24/7 are you not going to get hammered on the excess km they always seem to charge? Think it’s about 2000-2500 per week ‘free’ and then about 8p/km on top of that? Soon going to mount up on something that (in theory) is constantly on the go…
Good luck anyway. I feel you are going to need it.
Who you renting the truck off at that price■■?
You can rent a truck for £500 a week
As an Operator myself, I think there’s no doubt that any truck which operates 24/7 has the potential to make some serious money. Standing costs are the same per day whether the truck works one shift or two so obviously the pence-per-mile cost of running the truck would decrease sharply over fourteen shifts a week compared to the 5-6 shifts I do in my own truck.
You’d probably do better asking future questions in the Owner and Operator forum.
