Driver & truck missing in france!

scaniaman2006:
only just caught this post glad everything turned out ok

Strange definition of turned out OK. While it is good news that he hasn 't been the victim of an accident, or been found dead, I would hardly say it has ‘turned out OK’. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

You wont believe this!!

I just had a phone call and the Douanes have released Dave WITHOUT any charges - he is free to go and should he wish, t o continue to travel within France as normal without any bother.

Although details are sketchy as his phone ran out of power, we know this much - there was about 100Kg of hashish hidden in the load and the truck is still impounded in france.

Until he gets back home we wont know the full story, but to say the least everyone is extremely relieved - but at the same time somewhat puzzled. To my knowledge a driver has never been released after drugs in this quantity have been found on his trailer - was he set up by the authorities and tracked through france and spain perhaps??

I will keep you posted.

Hombre Glad to hear the latest. But your slogan at the bottom of your post has never been truer!!

Harry,

Thats very true.

Glad to hear that it hasn’t turned out badly

When I first read the thread I wondered if it was the “Huddersfield One”…

TC

GLAD to hear that DAVE is okay,as you said very strange

is that some one was in the know, perhaps ,Hope that

the lorry and trailer can be recovered when the police

have finished their investigation,

Now that is good news, and as you say something of a first.

Probably a year or two :unamused:

Have the French finally worked out that we are not always capable of knowing what is in our loads :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Great news about your Friend Dave getting found and getting released.
please let us know how he managed to avoid the normally long wait before getting released when you find out

As soon as I know more details I will of course let you all know what happened - particularly how he managed to get released so quickly.

Maybe this could be a contender for entry into the Guinness Book of Records??, It certainly gives a ray of hope to any other unfortunate finding themselves in the same position.

my apologies if my earlier posts regarding thris topic upset anyone i feel very sorry for the driver concerned

UPDATE

Dave is now back home here in Spain - minus truck. He was found to be carrying 100Kg of hashish (is that the same as cannabis?) hidden within a pallet on the trailer.

He said that he was treated very well by the French police and douanes, apart from being handcuffed to his trailer for an hour freezing his doodahs off.

They interviewed him for 4 days, then all of a sudden said that they belived he was innocent of any involvement and that he was free to go without charges.

Additionally they advised him to think very carefully about transitting France again in a truck, as if he was unlucky enough to be caught in the same position again they would throw the book at him.

So whilst hes been extremely lucky to be released, he is now in the position of wondering whether or not to stay in the job. Not an easy decision for anyone.

What no one seems to know is why he was released so quickly, as we all know drivers are normally incarcerated for months, sent to trial and always found guilty - have the French turned over a new leaf and realised that 99.999% of us are just doing our jobs and are as much the victims of the drug dealers as the addicts who buy the stuff?

Glad your mate wasn’t banged up,Hombre. I don,t suppose it pays much for him to do internals?( But even then you could get stitched up ) I know that I would think twice about loading down South again ,if I were him,for Northern Europe.100kgs ,and a verbal warning…? Never heard of that in France before. I guess he was lucky that they didn’t tug him at the Spanish border. Things take a little longer to resolve around those places.Alls well that ends well, pity about the truck being captured & the dent in wages.

You have the answer in your catchphrase!!!

VERY glad to hear that your mate,is back home,

also nice to know that they belive it was placed

in the load by some one else, they must have had

some concret information, and so may have known

from he start, AS for thr warning not to transit

France this is a bit upsetting as this means

trouble if stopped and some thing is found,

has he any chance of getting trips where

the customer is well known and has a good

record,as not all firms are that bad in Spain.

OR drive roadbarrels instead, any way tell

your mate all the best, and glad to hear that

he is back home,

it’s disgusting that there are companies or individuvals out there that would do this sort of thing to innocent decent people trying to earn a living a sad state of affairs when you have to question your bosses or their customers honesty

There has been a slight change in French policy lately as they have received a hell of a lot of stick over the last few years on this subject.

If it had been a harder drug then the outcome would have very different indeed.

I wonder if the outcome would have been the same if it was a UK registered truck ■■?

I don´t see why not, the French are not particularly keen on the Spanish either.
