Driver Training Cheshire/Merseyside

Stu,

I did mine at Stockport LGV.

Very friendly instructors, good trucks and really nice team throughout, can fully recommend them

Hi matey I’ve recently done training with TRUK, they are based in Bolton but its not as far as you think from Warrington. I have paid for a class 2 course but unfortunately I failed my test the other week (silly mistake on my behalf). TRUK have been good, the vehicles are good and to be fair the trainers have been good too, only thing that annoys me is when they say they’ll ring you back and then don’t.

Red Rose Training also based in Bolton are well worthy of a call too, Ive heard nothing but praise for that place and when doing my training their wagons were always out and about.

Best of luck with who you choose.

Obvious point to most on here, but possibly something the OP needs to bear in mind. Since there have been so many posts on here relating to auto boxes it would be easy to assume that these are the norm; which is untrue.

Make sure that any assessment vehicle or training vehicle has a manual gearbox, since the majority of recent PCV licence holders only have an automatic licence. An auto HGV licence will not be of much use.

There are vehicles fitted with automated gearboxes which meet the definition of “manual”, but you need to know if the particular model is test compliant.

The DSA website ought to make clear what is required.

Most training vehicles are manual as that is the requirement

LGV C must be passed before doing C+E

With the initial dcpc medical theory tests practical etc etc then its likely you will need the best part of £1,500 handy for C - more to cover any retests

For C and CE it is recommended to have £3k to hand in case of any retests

Hi Mate try emerald training in queensferry. very reasonable and professional ask for mike.
