You are seeing this through blinkers Harry. It’s not about the rights and wrongs of brexit, it’s about lorry drivers defending Tim Martin. Do you really think he wants to see wages rise? Who do you think will end up paying those wages? Think about it.

He’s not “my hero” and I haven’t “defended” him. I welcome debate but you are going to have to be a bit less puerile if you want me to engage with you.
Like me, he supports controlled migration. This means that he doesn’t think some convicted ■■■■■■ or murderer who has just been released from prison in Lithuania should be able to rock up at Dover with little more than a glance at his passport to check the photo matches or that we should welcome hordes of Romanian gypsy pickpockets camping in Hyde Park.

The problem is you and Tim are both brexit yet for completely opposite reasons - you hope it will improve wages, Tim wants wages driven down and hopes he can rip up employment regulations protecting workers and costing him money. If he was paying lorry drivers he would have them working for two bob a week and a blackbirds egg.

I too am unsure if there is genuinely a driver shortage as I have applied for 2 of these supposedly big paying jobs and am yet to get an interview. I have also registered with an agency for the odd weekend shift but again nothing has materialised. So what is behind all the driver shortage shouting?
But that has always been the case , just because you Apply fora job / 3 doesn’t mean you’ll get one , job shortage or not , if those vacancies can be filled with more suitable applicants the jobs will be filled by them , just persevere and eventually you will get one
Cheers I will keep my options open and apply for jobs I feel tick all the right boxes it was just the fact I felt on paper I would be ideal for the roles I applied for having worked at my current place for 15 years 12 as a class1 clean license all up to date cards but who knows

Ban all trucks on any road after 19.00, ban all trucks starting before 05.00,
It’s a 14 hour window so it’s enough for them to do what’s needed, it won’t stop fly by night companies paying buttons but it might improve drivers lifestyle
If only drivers had a pair of balls, they are there own worst enemy, too many willing to work for 2 weeks for the price of one,

I agree with mr monk ,but I would scrap driver CPC ,along with the the silly WTD then restructure driver hours ie get rid of 15 hour spread …I could go on but there is far to much wrong with the driver hours being that it it 2021 and the hours a worse than pre eu tochographs
