A lot more companies are starting to ask for part complete cpc’s now, especially through agencies. The agencies keep sending me offers on cpc courses, until I find somewhere I can get hiab that counts towards the cpc I’m not rushing to get mine as it runs out in 2015.
I have had quite a few enquiries from unemployed drivers that need to get the DCPC done to help them got a job (their words not mine). Guys on agencies reckon they are being overlooked if someone else has the DCPC card.
Over the last few weeks I have had at least 4 lads asking to do all 35 hours at once as they have a job lined up but need the DQC
A company I know quite well are insisting on proof of 21 hours if you want a job. They ‘may’ take someone on on a 3 month trial but they must obtain 21 hours within that 3 months.
Like it or not - and most don’t - it is going to become more important as time goes by.
I have to admit I have bitten the bullet and signed up for a couple of sessions - £50 a pop in areas I am interested in, just in case things change with my circumstances. And you can see why companies are asking for it because most have already started putting their own drivers through it, so if they take on someone new they can just mesh their training in with what’s already been done.

Not got me anywhere, signed on 2 agencies, applied for around 50 jobs, still sat on my arse in front of the computer.
Did mine when unemployed last year through a college, funded by the gvt. Worth asking if you’re unemployed. Near me, Tameside College do it, it’s a 40hr course though to get the funding, 35hrs dCPC and 5hrs ‘vehicle checks’ the next week.
I ain’t bangin my agency’s drum for them, but they have been half decent with me, they have had me in the same company/placement for over a year now and they are paying half towards my CPC, company I am placed at wants the agency drivers level level on CPC hours completed as the company drivers.
Paid £22 for each 7 hour session we have done, got 3 more sessions to go
