Assessments are definitely a necessity. One problem though is the type of driver who can drive to a good standard when out on assessment then the following day back to bully tactics.
Unfortunately it happens.
Human nature Jakey…ok not the bully tactics, but to be on your best behaviour whilst being watched, then be yourself whilst on yer own.

Totally agree but what’s the solution? A man of your calibre would surely know? My only suggestion would be a lot more police presence and a lot more being stopped and warned.

Cameras! Both forward and driver facing.
A driver at our place this morning successfully completed his 18 month assessment. The assessor told him to drop the trailer off whilst he would go off and finish the paperwork. The driver then managed to hit a brand new, just PDI’d parked trailer not once, not twice, but three times!
The only thing that stopped the TM from having a coronary is that he was an agency driver so the gaffer can pass the bill on.
