Dorset Constabulary & Poole Docks

And that’s the problem still. Old school tie cuts nothing with the police, but the police are not the law, they are just the tax collectors and secretaries that do the typing up and leg work, then it’s down to how much money you have as to what degree of ‘justice’ you receive.

As Sir Gerald Nabarro famously said, “British justice is a joke if you have sufficient money”.

Amen!

May I make it quite clear that I have NO problem with the Police in the UK or anywhere else for that matter enforcing drink drive laws - my gripe is that it appears that in Poole docks the road traffic act is being applied to one group and another namely PHC and its employees are being (or appear) to be allowed to contravene the law.

The deafening silence from Dorset Constabulary would appear to confirm this.

completely off topic but what is that pile of rusty scrap on your trailer behind lidl’s?

I will have you know that “pile of rusty scrap” on my trailer is a high value load for a customer in Gibraltar - I know it might look like a tangle of oversized rusty coat hangers, but it has been lovingly transported all the way from Wigan, and amazingly none fell off (I dont think).

Or are you referring to the truck itself??

PS - I did reply to your PM, but Im damned if I can tell if It was sent or not, the PM system is as clear as mud to me.

have received your pm we’ll go for a beer sat or sun either up the bullring or bar of your choice, ben will probably come as well he’s on here now registered couple weeks ago but daveyhotpot is in cyprus and its boiling hot apparently :grimacing:
any idea who has that other magnum parked by you? think its got portugese plates

The Bull Bar is fine by me and it will be nice to see Ben again - is he still on for Cervinter?

finished at cervinter last week looking to come back at citma but at the mo all the trucks are occupied

Concerning the double standards at Poole Docks, i agree, but the rule of thumb for all us local Poole drivers has always been as soon as you are over the railway lines that cross both entrances alongside the weighbridge, that is deemed as public highway.
Many years ago, a few of us while having an indepth conversation with a policeman, this is what he told us.
We use to come of the ferry, through the gate and turn left alongside the weighbridge to park up by Andy’s cafe and in front of the Agents offices, Henrys, Sterling, Mat and Frans Maas etc, still on private land.
But you cant anymore because PHC stopped the parking many years ago, why on earth is beyond me Just like Pompey and Dover, but hey thats another story!
However the Police had the power to prosecute for any offence including tacho/hours if invited into the port by PHC.
Although this did not mean it was ok to drive off the ferry drunk, you would have to be an idiot and unprofessional to do that!
Just to add, Poole docks is now like a ghost town, 6 crossings a week instead of 6 a day, freight ferry only to Cherbourg, except sat, sun and mon (Cotentin) and twice a week to Santander. Sad times.
