That’s no reason to keep it secret! As you’ve possibly seen from other posts of mine I’m looking at old low roof DAFs myself at the moment, if you’ve got the right truck for the job at the right money then I’m sure we’ll all be pleased for you even if it isn’t a topline V8 / SSC / whatever
Paul
i got a man f2000 26.414
nowt wrong with them
is it the flat roof or the roadhaus?
and get some piccies up on here

Supposed to be a real good truck for a new start,
does it have the slap-over 16sp ZF/Eaton
hope it all goes well and watch those companies that you go for looking work don’t try to take the hand out of you because your only starting up
BTW,
any pics of the truck
Never driven one myself so can’t really comment there but you do still see a fair few of them on the road so they must be built fairly well.

Nice one lee mat, IMHO they’re a good truck, solidly built and very reliable.

Here’s the one I was driving for a bit 3 years ago
Good solid reliable truck, I just found it a tad to small for 4/5 nights out a week plus it was a bit tired by the time I was driving it. (If i had use of the side lockers then it might not have been so cramped)
As for flat roof motors, here’s what I drive now.

if you want, you can email them to me and i’ll post them up for you
nothing wrong with the old roadhouse imo .
my old man built his buissnuis up and was his first truck was a 464 roadhouse and in all fairness he has still got it down to been relaible and the fact the 430 and 480 daf super space neither can pass it not even on a hill .
not the most glamrous inside but do the job they was built for , good starting point imo
will get a photo tomorrow and send it to you shuttle its good to hear from people who have had one ive been looking all over the internet for general info but theres not much on them not even in the photos section on here.
a nice wagon, if you are dissatisfied with the small cabin you
can all ways get the roof extension fitted, later on ,all the
best take it easy and do take care if possible with whom
you are pulling for as regards getting payed on time,
Well done on getting the O licence and the truck. my brother drove one for a while and I think it’s probably still his favourite ever truck, well built and pulls like a train.
Not trying to knock what you’ve bought, just curious really.
But why were you looking for older trucks ie. 143 and then F2000, when there must be plenty of good deals on the less fashionable but newer trucks?
less fashionable new trucks such as what

I was thinking of things like Premiums or CF’s.
P.S. I’m not knocking your decision, Being an O/D tough enough without smart[zb] like me telling you how you should do it.
Just wonder why you went for a lot older truck than many would even look at.
funny feeling he chose it on the simlaer question i asked earlyer regarding newer truck or one few years older that are known relaible motors and also if something goes wrong you aint sat at the side of motorway as 9/10 its something that yourself or most garages can fix without all the dealer exspence , could be wrong like but i belive as a new o/d reliablity and maintance costs are the key to succses , not many o/d can fork out thousands within there first few months for nasty repair bills .
money ! easy as that anyone can buy an expensive truck i just got it into my head that no matter what you pay for a truck if its going to break down it will then you have the big cost of the repair plus the big cost of owning it so i just got the best i could for the money i had all be it not a lot and going to give it a go also covering big monthly cost on owning a truck is one thing but covering the big fuel bill til you paid is another
