Done a school boy error locked keys in cab!

Learn’t my lesson the hard way. Was outside washing new car with keys in ignition. Three minutes later and car locks itself and sets alarm. Knew I should have read the handbook first :unamused: :unamused:

i did this in leeds. was in the cab. bloke came for paperwork so i stepped out. no need to take keys as im only going 3 or so paces from the wagon. pushed the door too as it was raining. forgot about the dodgy door catch and had to wait 3 hours for the office to send someone with the spares. after borrowing someones phone as mine was still in the cab.

not left them in since

I dropped my keys in the fuel tank, a kind French driver gave me a few metres of wire to hook them of the bottom of the tank .

I have no Light in Fridge if Light on Lorry is off. Some Units switch Power off if Key is removed.

Not had it happen to me yet. Unless I’m in a dodgy area I’ll leave the door on the latch otherwise I’d take the keys with me.

It was a regular occurance at DHL Bawtry, a subby driver would pull up at the barrier, jump out leave engine running and go to the gatehouse to book in. When they got back to the truck they where locked out with engine running. 2hrs was the average delay when it happened. It got so bad it was mandatory to take your keys when booking in, though it still happened.

iirc scania’s used to lock the door if you slammed it shut

Done this last year took the bloke literally 2 minutes , 1 minute 30 opening the bonnet ,
30 seconds sending voltage into the fuse box at one of the pins and bobs your uncle doors open , he even demonstrated opening the windows from same said fuse box.

Had that a few Weeks ago,but Passanger Door was luckily unlocked. (Renault do that  )
Once in France i stood at 02.00 Am outside in Pants and just a Brick saved me from the Wolves. Was a DAF then, and it had 20 cm New Snow

I was angry because I’d been ringing the bell to get someone to open the gates for ages (day rate so time is money), slammed the door shut, and the the backdoor man came out… :imp:

He did lend me a waterproof coat though.

Our fleet, Renaults, have had that happen a few times.
I got a copy made of the key, no transponder so wont let you start it but always keep it in my pocket just incase.

I did a classic school boy error today [emoji15]
Managed to lock keys in the cab of my MAN TGM by pressing the lock button by window switches to lock passengers door then getting out and shutting drivers door and it locked !
I phoned office and got the ok to use paddy’s key so now got to get quarter light replaced arrgh!

So, do due to a design fault, you have to pay for the quarter light to be replaced?

Was that new as in brand new or just new to you? Brand new would have had 2 keys at least. Did you use a spare to get in or an “improvised” entry?

No my boss did  and talking to another driver he’s had the same thing with the same truck

done it myself when driving a Scania for Homebase I was at a store and got out for two min to sort the paperwork and the drivers door locked itself, phoned the depot to be told that particular vehicle has done it twice before, nobody told me,i left everything in the cab and to top it all it started raining heavily,i felt sorry for the recovery mechanic sent out to retrieve the keys, cos 10 min later I was allowed to use the staff canteen until he got the vehicle open over an hour later
