Domestic Hours

Yep got it as a driver working for 2 company’s should I be downloading my own card on a regular basic also to keep an eye on infringements I am thinking of geting the nova data software for a driver just to keep a check on things

And by downloading data off my card myself will this enter fear with my company’s downloading of my card will they know I’m keeping a check on it

There’s no legal requirement to download your own card, the companies you work for should do that, but some don’t

Is nova data a good system they said I should buy the digi fob pro with the driver software to do my own annalising would you advise this for me

When you download the data from the driver card it’s not wiped off the card, the data is just copied so won’t interfere with the company downloads.

I’ve never used Novedata or a Digifob so can’t really comment I’m afraid.

Depending on how often you work for two companies you could keep track of your hours in a notebook or spreadsheet, I don’t know the cost of Novadata and a Digifob but it’s not going to be cheap.

Any ideas where I could print off a specific spread sheet for the job

I don’t use one myself but I believe there are people on TN who do so they may be able to help.

There’s some good information on this thread but I have another question, which might already be answered but just to be clear:

I drive a bus under domestic regs 5 days a week during school term time with no legal requirement to keep any records whatsoever.
Am I OK to work as a yard shunter every weekend doing 12 hour shifts provided that I don’t do any journeys on the road?

I don’t have time to check the regulations right now so I could be wrong, but I believe that legally in any two consecutive weeks you should have a period of at-least 24 consecutive hours off duty.

I think that 24 hour rule under domestic PCV rules is for those who come into scope of them and if under the 4 hours then its out of scope - that’s the way I read them but I am not really up on PCV domestic rules

Those on the CDF site would know for certain

Domestic rules exemptions
The following exemptions apply to drivers who would otherwise be subject to the GB domestic rules:

  • If they do not drive for more than 4 hours a day in any week, drivers are exempt from any GB
    domestic rules for that week.

That’s interesting. I didn’t mention it because I didn’t know it was relevant but I do drive for less than 4 hours per day. Having looked at the relevant bit of the Rog’s link I also read it to mean that what I do is exempt from domestic regs.

Didn’t realise that - I’ve just learned something - thanks

So shunting this Saturday and Sunday it is, I haven’t driven an artic since January so that should be exciting.
