Archie the Cairn Terrier, with the mutt sat behind him.

He looks just like our little Cairn ■■■■■ did a few years ago. She’s nearly 10 yrs old now and still racing around like a wee loony
This is her a couple of years ago, with a white beard from stuffing her nose into the snow.

(Click on the pic for a slightly larger version)

This one is 6 years old Simon. That last one also a Cairn lived to just over 18 years old. The first Cairn I had lived to 15 and a half, super little dogs.
Cheers Dave.

How fast does a whippet go once it’s been chipped? Does it affect the emissions?

There’s a couple of things you can try…

Take her a very short distance in the car, even if it’s just half a mile up the road, then walk her. That way she will (hopefully) associate a car ride with something good & lose the nervousness.

Make sure the windows are open a little, maybe enough for her to stick her head out if she wants too. It’'ll maybe distract her enough to stop the sickness.

About 10 mins before getting in the car, give her something sugery (not chocolate). It works with kids & is supposed to help dogs.

Thanx for that i will give it a go,what i cant understand is why she been ok and its just started ,when i say she is sick i dont mean just a bit ,its really violent and she really scambles and panicks to get out,ive tried the window down abit and someone holding and comforting her that doesnt work :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: its a nitemare really because there are some nice places to go where i live but you need to go in the car :unamused: :unamused:

Seth I think if she was mine I would take her for a check up at the vets its funny how she was okay and now she has gone like that. Just think she maybe is in a wee bit o pain and has no way of telling you. Eddie.

Yes, I’d rule anything out with the vet, but it’s unlikely to be anything if it’s only happening in the car.

I’ve done what melchett said with a new (rescue) dog that had probably never been in a car and was scared of the travelling. If ten minutes is stressing the dog too much, it might be a case of starting even more slowly and just sitting in the car, having a treat and then getting out, building up to driving round the block, plenty of fuss and treats and then up to ten minutes. As melchett said, it’s all about the dog connecting the car with something good.

not a bad idea never had a dog that doesn’t like cars so don’t now but you could also try putting her bed in the car so she has something she’s use too
