I worked for Sampson from 1984 to 1986. They had a depot on Sunderland docks, one at Ipswitch and the main depot was on the Albert Dock. At the time they were running Scania 112s, Marathons and Ford Cargos doing container work mainly for Westgate Shipping. We were leading boxes into Sunderland docks for the Baco Liner which also called into Shereness then on to Nigeria. The depot manager at Sunderland was John Kerss who took over the operation after Sampson pulled out and traded as John Kerss Services.
