I look down on him, because he is a rigid driver.
I am an artic driver.
I look up to him, because he drives an artic.
I look down on him, because he bobtails.
I am a rigid driver.
I know my place.

I once drove from Suffolk to Berlin solo, never bothered me that there was’nt a trailer behind me.
Sweet words: ‘Drop the trailer at Norse, then bounce home and have a nice few days off’.Inadequate? No,just happy

LOL. but we are all working class…!
I am a class 2 driver and i look at a class 1 driver and i think,
All that work you have to do,
Spend 70 hrs+ in that tin can,
■■■■ in bottles+crap in bushes,
But you do get xtra lights and frilly curtains
Not at all.
It says more about the haulier/company than the driver.

I did Williton north Somerset to Dresden Germany solo to collect a trailer when one of our broke down over there and they need the load back. never bothered me either

You weren’t bothered but your boss was fuming when he realised you’d left the load behind
Bobtail not something to look forward to sat on the statutory orange box in a boneshaker Scanny, but in something with dampers that work and a proper seat makes a pleasant change.
Best bobtail test ever was in a Twin Splitter boxed F90 MAN with a fully adjusted clutch brake, my mates Cortina Savage could just keep up with it…

My shift lengths are the same.
I get paid more.
I do less drops.
My drops are easier.
Don’t tar us all with the same brush

I always do. Whenever I’m anethin but class 1 I feel other drivers r looking down on me.
Hes got bollox saying this, poor fella has got to be wappy
It’s not the size that matters it’s how we drive it that counts. The smaller the better bobtail for me

I have a long rigid with a huge overhang, …I’m happyThat’s a beer belly ain’t it■■?

Cue memory of the seaside picture of a big lad with a similar-sized overhang, having a wee in the urinal. His neighbour is a small boy: “So you’re Little Willy eh? I had a little willy once but I haven’t seen him for a long time!”
I used to do wide portacabins on a rigid, never felt right without one on …its all about the girth with me.
Long and thin slips right in.
Short and thick does the trick.
