Do American Trucks work well on uk roads

I think it was they who, I read in one of the truckers’ mags a couple of years ago, decided to stop importing American trucks because the whole type approval rules were going to make it more difficult in future.

Which might give the OP some pointers. US long-haul tractors are too long to use with almost any British trailer except maybe those very short container trailers, and they have a much higher tare weight due to the large sleeper. They’d only really be of use if you used the sleeper as storage, and then you’d have a 450bhp tractor (guzzling diesel to match) hauling a fraction of its design weight.
