Disgraceful driving

As said before on this thread - we see this everyday

This was M1 Monday this week, everyone north bound in this picture is driving too close - seems to be the norm (Southbound were being pretty sensible)

But what really worried me was the girl in the Fiesta, driving between 6 to 8 feet behind that lorry - she could see nothing but Truck Arse end

She was level with me for a fair distance & rabbiting away on her phone completely oblivious to all around her. If he pulled up sharp - she would not stand a chance.

I like to think I was maintaining a sensible distance here, but as we all know, it is not usually practical, as the rest of the world try & fill that gap at all cost

That is why I like to avoid the M1 at all costs. As soon as you enter the roadworks everyone gets stupid.

I am shocked I didn’t get told to man up for this post.

Man up.

Let’s be honest, who gives a flying chuff anymore.

True drivers are a dying breed most couldn’t give a monkey’s anymore.

+1,so true

Man up.

I do not tailgate but I do drive closer than the stopping distance and the reason for that is car drivers will dive into any space you leave as they cannot resist it. The lorries I see tailgating in my opinion are not doing it because they do not recognise the risk but rather they are trying to intimidate the car driver to use all the lanes available to them. On Monday I was in M1 roadworks and there was this british rail small van in the middle lane doing 40mph (50mph speed limit). He was holding up 3 artics directly behind him and then there was me and another two artics behind me stuck in the inside lane. A slip road joining the motorway was full of traffic coming in so I had to brake and slow right down as the traffic joining were braking when they joined because of this one van! Eventually as I cleared I flashed the artics on my right and all three overtook this prick on the inside and then I did too giving him a full blast of the airhorns as I went past. It made no difference as I looked in my mirror he was laughing and watching his phone! :imp:

What’s the difference between tailgating and driving closer than the stopping distance?

 bout a ■■■■ stride

There would be some serious changes on the Queen’s highway - IF there were the police there to enforce current laws properly…

Why can’t we hand over to the police ALL revenue from fines?
I bet you would see a lot of tickets being handed out for everything including “tailgating” or “on your phone at the wheel” or “hogging the middle lane at 50” or “stopping at the end of a sliproad”…

You get the picture.

“Bad Driving” was always illegal. It just doesn’t get enforced a lot anymore - due to lack of police.

^^^^ I’ve just disagreed with you on the Norberts thread, but on this one I agree wholeheartedly.

so you have time while driving safely to take a pic and have a look at what the girl was doing in her car on her phone etc ?
at what point do you keep your eyes on the road ?

i wonder how many accidents take place because drivers are to busy trying to watch how badly others are driving than taking notice of what there doing ?

did you take a pic while driving just so you could post it on here to have your moan ?

Well self righteous desypete,

First thing - No I don’t keep my eyes fully on the road at all times, sometimes I am checking my mirrors, sometimes I am glancing down at the vehicles beside me, to make sure I am aware of what is happening around me, (you can actually see the driver in the vehicle beside you - or did you not realize that as you clearly stare straight ahead - oblivious),
sometimes I am checking my speedo, or other instruments, sometimes I even check signposts & matrix signs (I don’t use a ■■■■ nav)

Secondly - My passenger took the photo - we had just been discussing the silly girl beside me, and as you can see, she had moved on a bit by the time he took it

Third point - I wonder how many accidents are avoided because a professional driver is aware of what the other careless folk are doing around them?

Finally, I did state that the incident happened on Monday - this thread did not start until Wednesday, and not by me either. I saw it & thought about the Monday Incident & thought it appropriate to mention on here - or am I missing the point ■■?

Cassius Clay style Knockout blow. Impressive reply.

Thanks for the balance there then…

Y’know, I wouldn’t have minded being a traffic cop on a productivity bonus either!

Don’t ask anyone else to do what you wouldn’t be prepared to do yourself is my way of looking at the police, government authorities, hauliers, etc.

Was thinking that myself.
Any driver that says their eyes are fixed on the road ahead 100% of the time is a lying git. There’s always moments when your changing cds, changing radio station, checking your tacho or even just looking around at the scenery.
Of course some of tnuks more professional expert drivers will claim otherwise and probably look to burn me at the stake for saying that but hay ho,its the truth

so you got a passenger to take the pic of the girls car ? why ?

now if the girl had a short skirt on and you was looking for a bit of a leg show i could understand you wanting to take a pic of her

but for just driving and driving up to close to another truck ? just what gets you off on that sort of thing ?

do you have an album full of such drivers ? do you have a video collection maybe ?

or are you just a good all round concerned citizen doing his part for the community ?

sadly i do think it odd that you or your passenger would want to take a pic of the said offender, it smells to me like a bad ■■■■

I assume by your stupid reply that you are not used to double manning, or taking another driver with you to collect a vehicle from another depot?
In my experience, when trunking, there is not much to look at when sitting on the motorway for hours on end, so when you do have a passenger you discuss all kinds of ■■■■■■■■, state of the country, how your dog could run the country better than the government, how your firm wastes millions running empty lorries around but wont pay overtime, all that kind of stuff that us thick drivers think about, Before long you see a twit driving erratically, or an unusual load, or a smart paint job, so it gets discussed.

Some of us might occasionally take a picture to discuss in the canteen whilst whiling away the hours waiting for your trailer to be ready,
so No, I don’t think it too strange, anybody else??

Of course, you think on the one hand I should be staring at the road/transfixed like a robot, but on the other hand seem to think it ok to take a photo if there’s a bit of thigh showing??

There again, on reading some or your posts, I now realize what a condescending illiterate hypocrite you really are,
You have actually made me realize I have a bit more respect for the likes of Dozy now, at least he screws up but admits to it & takes the stick for it,
Unlike a non driver, who made a big deal about the DCPC, thinks he’s above it & everyone else - Keep digging mate !!!

Oi Ref, stop the fight.

Somebody pass me a towel to throw.

oh so not only do you drive trucks and take pics of motorists that ■■■■ you off, or get a mate to take the pic for you, so there are 2 of you in the same cab that do the same thing god help us, but you then make a song and dance about it in the canteen to show to your mates ?
sorry you would look like a first class bell end to me. someone i would have to run the other way from in the yard in case he is going to bore me with pics he has to show of today’s drive.

isnt driving them all day long enough for you ? or do you really need keep sakes of the day ? and discusses it after work ? get a wife and have some ■■■ or somthing my friend anything to take your mind off trucks
