Dirty rotten tricks

Traffic Rat:
Sadly, I have agree with the sentiments on here. Unless there is more to the story, on the facts given I wouldn’t even get out my car, but like life, they political masters want the police to represent a cross section of the community so you get the good with the bad, the black and white law people and those who may apply common sense. I regard myself in the common sense area. It the car is parked, no problem, unless you stop in lane 4 of Thelwall to chat!!!

You sound like an old school copper, I think years ago they were more willing to hand out advice or even a bollocking, but in these days of targets and performance reviews things seem to be different.

When I was 17 (it was a long time a ago  )and just got my first motorbike, in those days you didn’t need any training just buy a bike and helmet and off you went. I wobbled through a red light and the next thing I was stopped by a bike copper who gave me a right bollocking and some useful advice, but despite an obvious offence committed in front of him I didn’t get a fine or points on my then new licence.

Well done TR for applying some common sense, the problem is that the police have lost a lot of the public’s respect due to heavy handedness. These are the very people who the police want as witnesses etc.

I got a bit of a bollocking once for taking the keys out of a car’s ignition that had crashed off the road. I got inside to check the bloke was ok and the first thing I did was to turn the thing off to prevent a fire etc. Seemed sensible to me. I’d still do the same but the copper who arrived was a right idiot.

I also once got a bollocking for having my front fogs on (fair one), I’d put them on to light the road on the way back from visiting family in deepest countryside with no ambient light whatsoever. Forgot to turn them off in the city. The thing was they were pretty ■■■■ really and wouldn’t dazzle a dormouse  . Bit pointless really.

Is there a link to this incident or any way to confirm it?
I’d be willing to chip in a few quid if so.

and me too, i had a story published in the press from a traffic warden who ticketed 2 disabled buses, who were loading up a load of disabled kids who had just been carol singing to raise funds for their school.

needless to say once it had gone to the press nottingham council were kind enough to refund the charges! (i even got a lovely letter of thanks from the school inviting me down as guest of honour!).

but count me in for a donation for the lass too.

Thanks chaps!!

Update…I`ve emailed BBC Look North asking if we can have a whip round for the lass and if they could pass it on to her, and am waiting for their response.

Thanks for some positive responses. Good stuff.
