Definitions of a "Cushy Job"

Perth - inverness,

Drop trailer on bay, pick up another trailer and put on another bay.

Sleep or do as you please for an hour

Then inverness to Perth

8 hours pay for that. id say thats pretty cushy.

Look it’s Carryfast junior :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

WTF is anyone going to do in an hour? - Takes you half that time in some RDC’s to find the canteen, which is either closed or uses some card format you don’t have… Doesn’t anyone prefer the fewer, longer shifts elsewhere then?

My thinking is that it’s better to do 3 x 13 hour shifts than 6 x 6.5 hour shifts for the same pay! Your commute bill is halved for a start! :sunglasses:

He commutes quite cheaply :stuck_out_tongue:

Monday-Friday, no nights out, take a nap etc as & when you please, medium to long runs dc to dc unmanned & no human interaction during the whole shift, good kit with no company livery on it & no cab phones or tracking systems-minimum £30k pa

work 5 days first week, 6 days following week. 4h drive to rdc. drop trailer, wait 1 - 4h for loaded trailer, 4h drive back to yard then home. don’t start till 10am so not everyones cup of tea but lot easier than hauling concrete flooring & rope&sheet job i had before.

Anything that means I don’t have to spend too much time on UK roads. Life over the water is so much easier. :grimacing:

My first artic job was in my opinion a properly cushy job. Trunking around east anglia, 10 hour days, ok money, no cab phone, no tracker, you wasnt told how to do the job, you just got on with it and sorted any problems out yourself. The only downside to it was the lorry and trailer was a proper dog, would of got into alot of trouble if pulled by vosa!

I start @ 2100…wait for trailer to be loaded, head up to our Cannock depot, have an hour break whilst being tipped/reloaded, head back, park up, ■■■■ off! Bad day ‘usually’ see’s me back by 0600…and that’s the longer of the 4 runs we do at night. The old fella who does Paddock Wood retires at the end of September so i might try and bag that one…2000 start time, back by about 0230, depending on ‘away time’. As that position will be available, i think i should post it up on here…might do someone who lives ‘local’.

EDIT: have posted this vacancy up but can’t seem to edit it…location is Reading, based just off M4 j11. 01189 169600

I used to have a right cushy agency job. Night trunking for brakes at bishops stortford. Start at 7 pm, jump in lorry 1, renault premium, (all lorries and trailers stayed hooked up), drive to thetford by 2030, sit for half hour while they tipped fridge, back to stortford by 2215, derv up and get in lorry 2, a man tga, over to st albans by midnight, tipped by half past, back parked up by 0130 home in bed by 2, guaranteed 10 hrs at £14 per hour

They got a bit funny about me taking my 45 when backed in the door at thetford. I didn’t get £14 an hour either, so consider yourself to have out-cushtied me on this occasion. :open_mouth:

Down at Aylesford, you run to J12 of the M25, then back to depot, then take another combination upto Thetford which is a decent old run from Kent compared to your locale.
