So you would rather it be drivers in plain bog standard trucks throw litter everywhere, destroy grass verges, ■■■■ all over the place, crap in bags, tailgate, etc ?

Nothing wrong with a bog standard truck or a blinged up one, my own is semi blinged with Eminox, Alcoas, sunvisor ect blah blah. The rest of what you mention is just plain wrong, ■■■■■■■ all over the place and ■■■■■■■■ in a supermarket bag being the worst, throwing it out of the window in a truck stop with toilets nearby is plain disgusting, yes ive witnessed it… :frowning: These are the ones that need re educating, mind you if a grown man does these things theyre probably beyond help…

I’d rather see the DCPC got rid of, and then see all driving licences(full and vocational) time limited, if every person holding any form of driving licence had too resit every 10 years, then maybe joe public and some of our so called professional driving colleagues :unamused: might just start taking right to drive more seriously, and stop acting like complete knobs whilst out and about on the highways and byways

That means regular encounters with this country’s thoroughly unprofessional driver training industry - brokers, tetchy or downright abusive instructors, thousands of pounds in fees, potentially multiple attempts to pass a test to do something I’ve already proved I can do perfectly well. And are we supposed to take both classes every ten years?

Yeah I see what you are saying, but if you believe that you are still competent enough to do what you have already proved you can do perfectly well, then all you would have to do is book a test, arrange a vehicle, an Artic if you have a “C+E” licence, jolly on up to the test center, sail straight through for what couple of hundred quid max. Training wont be compulsory it would be your choice, you woiuld only have to take the test.

If like me, I believe that I’m good enough to sail straight through, but would hedge my bets, and book a days refresher with a training school with the allowance to use their truck for My test, probably only going to cost a few of hundred quid

This would be for every one, how many car drivers do you see, that you think how the hell did you get a licence, well they to would be in the same boat, and they to would have to decide to either rock on up and hope for the best, or take some refresher training.

It would mean that every 10 years every vehicle user would have proven their competence or be taken of the road.

On the question of classes. Ordinary licence holders would refresh their existing entitlement, as in to drive cars. Vocational licence holders would refresh their highest qualification, eg C+E for trucks would give you that and all the classes underneath, C licence holders would refresh that giving them all the classes underneath that, but not a C+E unless they took a C+E test. Bus and Coach categories would be worked in a similar way.

So you refresh what is the highest category that you currently hold, to refresh all others including your car entitlement. Some method of renewing across vocational spheres as in trucks across to bus and coaches or vis versa would be worked out. The idea isn’t about making you refresh individually every classification you hold, just about getting you to reprove your competence to hold what ever kind of driving licence you hold ,by refreshing what would be seen as the most difficult category that you have

When you start taking your different vocational categories as a newbie, eveytime you gain a category such as going from ordinary licence to C then C to C+E, you reset the 10 years clock for all existing categories, because you will have just re proven your competence to be on the road. So car licence at 17 expires at 27, C licence at 21 all categories expire at 31, C+E licence at 22 all categories expire at 32.

Take your test any time in year 9, but the licence date will commence on the exiting 10 year date. so you could end up with an 11 year licence. if however you cant pas the test during year 9, its game over, back to a provisional licence
Cut congestion over night I reckon
