Pretty dry down South, been feeding my cattle for two weeks now as the grass is dead, dont think they look too bad considering conditions. We have no real rain here in the last 4 months unlike Wrighty as he has been hogging all the wet up North, I always blame the IOW as it diverts any wet weather round us
Buzzer
Dry as a nuns wotsit.
Dont look too shabby
Covered feeder just to keep the sun off

Morning Buzzer
It’s times like this that I’m glad we live in the frozen north, we were burning up in May but have had some good showers recently and now have plenty of grass.
You look desperate for rain but not sure if there’s any on the horizon, it’s not good when you have to feed them at this time of the year.
We are busy cropping at the moment, baled up for now and busy today carting the bales home to wrap. We have some nice stuff but not enough of it, same as most this year.
Lets hope you get some rain soon..
Cheers Wrighty.
Hi Wrighty we were talking about you only this afternoon with Gerbil and his Mrs, we had a bit of a late wake for a driver we had for over 28 years so a few old faces turned up. You are right we a desperate here nothing wet for four months really so we need a week of steady rain to rectify the situation, just seen countryfile forecast and you are getting it all again but there is nought I can do about that eh. fingers crossed it changes soon but aint holding me breath, Buzzer
You need to start removing the salt from that Southampton water and using that… Hello Buzzer, I hope you are well… regards Andy OldishJoda
What a difference 24hrs make, damp up ere this morning should kick start the second cut.. although saying that I wish the lawn would stop growing, two crops a week at the moment..
Hi Wrighty mow the lawn, down here only to take off the dead heads and thats it, we have had a couple showers but nought to speak of. Had a delivery of haylage yesterday, 42 x 600 kgs bales from Honiton and got 28 round bales from local man arriving today, not cheap but dont think it will get cheaper only go up, the chap that brought the square bale bales straw and sells it to Devon but he said its a very light crop this year so that will be expensive as well. Your crop looks good all things considered but we all need the stuff for winter although I am feeding now like a lot of others I know, Buzzer
Andrew all on his own again top deck, got nasties on the trailer

Prices up North Buzzer including lambs for Wrighty.
Cheers

Evening Oily
Prices are still holding up at the moment, let’s hope it continues.
I loaded two transit tippers out of Thainstone on Tuesday afternoon, tipped them near Birmingham Wed morning over to Sleaford loaded straw and tipped it at home this morning. Back home this afternoon and made 32 round bales of silage with another field to bale in the morning if it stays dry..
Cheers Wrighty.
Nice barley straw.
Loaded out of Thainstone on Tuesday.
What a lovely cross-over duty! I have a very good understanding of that rite de passage for her, given that I variously supervised secondary-transfer children and drove lorries too. May she flourish!
Memory jerker here, couple DIT lads having a cheeky beer in what was Chantelle’s in Le Havre waiting for the bateau to Pompy anyone remember those far off days .
Last time I was in Le H, a couple of years ago, I went there too. The Leopard Bar (Peter and Nicolle), and the Piano Bar (Jacques), have both also gone. Had more than a few coffees in there. (And one or two beers)
More than once P&O called the Ferry Boat. Especially the night sailings, Chantal would answer and call out
“It’s Patrick. He says the ferry is loading NOW, so get back if you are booked!”
Remember DOS aka Dave ‘O’ shea RIP who pulled for AS Rawlings had done a long night shift and parked across the entrance gate ready for the morning sailing, this was so they would wake him up and so not missing the ferry home, when he reversed up he hit a bollard and knackered his mud wing and was not best pleased
