Afternoon Buzzer

Well the weathers certainly taken a turn for the worse, heavy rain and strong winds, spent this morning getting the rest of the early lambers inside.
They now seem happy munching on some nice hay, they are due middle of the month so it will be all hands on deck shortly.

Cheers Wrighty.

Looking at the pic you would never have thought that was five grands worth of damage. At least you were not hurt Wrighty.

Morning DEANB

It was lucky there was not more damage as it was right between the Ad blue tank and the drive axle, neither of which were damaged which would of put me off the road. The price of the bits is horrendous, the plastic side skirt without fixings, badges and paint is £1700 off Scania. All the parts required are on order so hopefully she will be good as new soon.

Cheers Wrighty.

Out on Irish ferries Dover-Calais we’ve been using this a bit lately food a bit better for the drivers think it might be a bit cheaper too & definitely less queuing than the others at the moment

Thats the bit that always worried me on ferries. The truck in front rolling back as you were always parked so close.

Buzzer,Are you keeping the older Scania as a spare motor or will it still be running abroad out of intrest ?

That actually happened to me one night Dean - waiting to get off one of the P&O ferries in Calais.
I had threaded my way through the trucks - squeezed between the front of mine and an Italian tilt in front of me, and climbed into the cab.
The bow doors hadn’t opened yet, so I was sitting there reading the newspaper- and all of a sudden I saw the trailer in front starting to roll back.
Naturally I stood on the brake pedal- even though I wasn’t moving - then…BANG.
He only rolled the foot or so gap that they give you, but jeez, I felt it - so did my 3 series Scania, with the front grille pushed into the intercooler.
One of the crew managed to stop the Italian on the linkspan & he pulled over, the driver reckoned he accidentally knocked the hand brake while polishing the dash, and he didn’t realise he had hit me. Really??
It did make me think though- if that had been 1 minute or so earlier while I was squeezing between the back of his trailer, and my cab…

That reminds me - The old East German/Czech customs was on a slope (I think it was near the top of a mountain, it’s a long time ago, 1976!) I think a Hungarocamion was having a cab inspection and the guard kicked the handbrake off (again, bit hazy on the detail, but it was the guard who accidentally released the brake, not the driver.) The truck rolled back and squashed another guard, who was checking the plombe, against the truck behind. He died and the person who was arrested was the Hungarocamion driver! A German who was listening to the conversations said that they were saying that the driver would spend a long time in prison.

Was this the border John.

Fella was having some issues yesterday with his hedge cutter. Had the spanners out and when he fired it up again it sounded very rattly ! :unamused:

Hi Dean those flail hedge cutters certainly revolutionised that job and no clearing up after, they spin at so high revs it has to be balanced to work correctly, Buzzer

Salisbury market today for the Candlemas sale, lots of punters there from far & wide trade still hot and I could only buy a sausage bap & a coffee, Buzzer

Evening Buzzer

Well what a change weather wise lovely frosty morning yesterday, followed today by wind and rain which is making the ground very soggy. Got mi fresh toy home but it went straight in the shed to keep dry, so we will have a play another day…
We are trying something new on the farm at the moment which is “flushing” two of our pure Limi heifers to get fertilised eggs to implant in recipient cows, this technique has been around a while now but it’s our first attempt so we will see how we get on…

Cheers Wrighty.

Wrighty the weather all over the place at the mo, why the International do you have an a liking for the breed. The picture below is one of my first new motor bought but in its new home doing textile work to Morocco an easier life than it had with us on a fridge, Buzzer

Morning John

We ran nothing but International and latterly Case International at home when I was a kid, we had a Y reg 956xl 2wd and at the time it seemed like a big tractor. There wasn’t that many 6 cylinder tractors around our area in the early 80’s so it was always a favourite.
Sat here having another brew putting off going out in the torrential rain which is battering the windows, but i suppose we are going to have to man up and brave it…

Cheers Wrighty.

I remember sitting up alongside Tony Bradfield in that lorry staring out at a rain-swept muddy truck park in Tangiers, clutching glasses of vodka and coke  , as loading had been cancelled.

An F89 I bought from Geoff Gilbert, SJL262S which we later converted to a six wheeler when the weights went up, Buzzer

Happy days, Steve; now long passed! :sunglasses:

very true my friend

Hi Wrighty

Hope all is well.
If you know where there are any more PSKs like that could you give me the heads up, as long as its not on disc brakes.
I think I passed you on the A34 last week I will try to attach a picture so you will know next time.
Cheers Rich.

Second trip over the water Roger bound for Antibes this morning, Buzzer
