All ten tractors bought at the same time Dennis they are now 7 year old the trailers are coming up to 3 years old and then they will be owned, the boys are looking to run the Scania’s for another year on full Scania maintenance then they will look to buy new once more. All the gear is well looked after and we don’t seem to have a problem moving anything on once it is done with us, by the way all have GEL registrations and some plates have been on three or four new trucks so no one knows how old they really are, Cheers Buzzer.
PS. Was that your MP on Sunday morning politics ? sounds a bit of a wet ■■■■ to me.

Thanks for the “gen” on the GEL fleet Buzzer and yes if the MP was Farron he is , unfortunately (very), my local MP and I have told him on a number of occasions what I think of him and his pathetic, duplicitous, Lib Dem shower and he does not like me I can tell you !! ! Our prospective local Conservative MP who is a Kendal born and local farmer told Farron that his constituency of Westmorland and Lonsdale was a “yellow stain” on the otherwise all Blue of the rest of ■■■■■■■ ! and Farron and his supporters went F------ mad in the local paper !! it was a priceless read it really was. Incidentally Farron is not local even though he lives in Milnthorpe plus he has never had a real job in life either. The reason why he’s held on by the skin of his teeth is that we have a lot of “incomers” in the area now who retire and sell up for top dollar in the South and take advantage of cheaper properties “up norff” but with a bit of luck we’ll have the C— out next time around provided of course that Boris delivers the “goods” fingers crossed ! Cheers Dennis.
Cracking line up of motors Buzzer.
What sort of kms do you expect out of those engine 1.5 / 2 million ■■

Hi Dean the boys do like the Scania’s even though they are not without problems and as in most cases today you need the help of a computer to sort things out, as for mileage I don’t know but Scania are on the adjoining industrial estate to “Tracy Island” our yard so very convenient and saves a lot of time commuting to a dealer further away plus the fuel cost so more than likely to stay with Scania but you never know what might transpire, cheers Buzzer.
Nice little spot to load apples in sth of France
Buzzer with regard to fleet replacements have you and the current bosses considered having factory blue cabs and red chassis and applying a bit of light blue ‘wrap’ as a sort of cost affective return to the original livery? Bet it would go down well with the many followers of the GEL fleet. Who knows after the end of this virus nonsense and Brexit still on course it may well become the past re visited so to speak.
short walk the two tone blue with red chassis and wheels was my favourite colour combination to be fair but we have had all white cabs and blue chassis with blue striping since the late 80’s, in the early years I used to buy second hand trucks and so they almost always wanted painting but since we only buy new gear nowadays we opt for white and stripe. This is a lot easier when we go to sell as we can destripe and mop the cabs before they go, cheers Buzzer.

Every vehicle is too complicated now chap and i imagine electrics/sensors are the biggest pain these days. Silly warning lights
coming on,then they wont start and you have to wait for a couple of minutes and the computer resets and they start !
Can understand them sticking with Scania if they do as like you say have the dealers on the door step is very handy.
Mind you a quote from Volvo will keep them keen at the time.
Thanks for the pictures Pete, now your a man in the know when I looked back on this thread I found a lot of the pictures have “Photobucket” right across them and no one gave them permission to do that especially as you cannot lift the shots again without there crap writing all over it, is this allowed to happen or can I take them to book over it thought you may know, Buzzer.

Hi Buzzer,
I think as you had signed up to use Photobucket they “own” what is on their site, I remember Dennis, Bewick, having the same problem and that is why he has re-posted a lot of his photo’s.I seem to think that they wanted a fee when it had been free for so long?
I never use any host for my pics as I just scan and save them to a file on my lap top, Oily may be your man to explain the photobucket thing, sorry I can’t be more specific. Cheer’s Pete

Evening Buzzer
Aye were still breathing, trucking and farming as usual, been a busy week driving and now busy chain harrowing marking lambs out of the meadows and turning cattle out to grass. Had two bulls in at Leyburn Mart today £940+£1000 so not a bad day, Sorting cattle again tomorrow and turning them out we haven’t a lot of grass but hopefully it will come when we get some more rain.
Cheers Wrighty.

Nah Pete that was about getting your photos off flickr with their 1000 max limit if you didn’t cough up the subs increase they were demanding. I’ve never had anything to do with photobucket, so put a few algorithms to work with a pinch of salt and hey presto , if you believe that last bit o p**h you’ll believe anything
