Peter 19 61 what a interesting yes trip ,what was the attraction for lignano sybbiadoro a bit off the beaten track and was it expensive there .

,i would love to go all around that area again,it mad me think i was tourist when driving around there, did you use Austria- Villach, udine,or go Brenner Trento, any area around that piece of Italy is spectacular, if you had time Bolzano ,Merano deserved a visit does not get better, as a ex fridge man i loaded around that area winter and summer.
i would go myself on holiday around there again but i need a old unit,[any make] no car ,no trailer ,just a little old plain sleeper.room for a gas bottle, coupleo f pans, new pressure cooker, bliss.but i will dream on i expect.

Hows" BullY"doing Buzzer ,have him out side the polling station with a vote “out” on his rear.or ill squash your car.by accident.pdb

PDB went down to show them to an old friend yesterday as they were here for Sunday roast, both he and his wife are both in there eighties.
He liked me cattle and I am going back to Newark on Saturday as the second portion from the same farm are for sale plus a shed load more and there all Limmies, I have been to several auctions since buying the first four but found nothing up to there quality so need to get six more outfits. As for Bully I have not seen him perform but you don’t often catch them doing it, its a bit like when you were a lad I suspect no one caught you at it but every body knew you had been. On Sunday he was sniffing the rear of one cow and all he needed was an eyeful of squirt and he would have been on her like a flash but nought happened in the end.
Going back to the roast by golly did they put it away for a couple of oldies, we had a nice bit of Irish Brisket done slow for four hours and I knew when I put the fork in it to lift from the roasting pan it would be tender, plus new English carrots and Kenyan French beans and Charlotte spuds out the garden plus Yorkshire pudding, done a huge bowl of spuds but they all went and we had strawberries for afters.
There is nothing quite like a good roast dinner and it’s easy to do.
Having a bit of rain but not enough for my liking, the ground is dry and we are only having showers, we need a nice steady rain for two days to liven every thing up.
Had a look at that BBC bit about the Massey tractors and they always make there money in sales, just in the process of fitting an 80 loader on my 590 and also had the pump and injectors done while we are at it, the fitter reckons they have never been out and its a 1080 model so she should have a bit more power when I get her back, cheerio for now Buzzer.

Buzzer> Yes did take quite a few pics however I am not a master at putting them on here, I will get Lou Lou to put them on when we get five!!

Peggydeckboy> Liguanno de Sabiadora was not my choice. I am a member of the Yamaha XJR1300 owners club and every year a different country hosts Eurofest. This year it was the Italians turn to host and they chose the spot because it has a bit of everything , beach for the girls and fab biking roads not far away, not that we used them because all the ride outs were cancelled due to bad weather inland. Great fun but yes very expensive.

Hi Buzzer ,its funny that old SNIFF worked wonders with us as well ,“well did” i expect you would have know some blokes, like i did and you would say" yes hes like a bloody animal" we are all very close .
As for the Sunday roast, just the ticket i pot roast brisket, its about the same ,but the wife thinks it is a bit fatty, when it is cold the next day you can see the fat but hey ho.have not had local carrots yet must go up to mr morrisons allotment ,afraid that is as close as i get to growing produce now,but was never good .my dad had 2 allotments when i was young so i had my fill by the time i went away.the the old driving took over ,say no more.

I do like to see produce growing and i can tell what is growing in most fields.you have put new carrots in my head now, i do use the keyan runner beans but have to put the thought of the growing[manure] out of my head…
The very last thing a ship used to do coming out of the Suez canal was pick “new potatoes” up from PORT SAID,you never saw anything green anywhere but bloody sand,i Know they grow in sand but the "manure "was suspect ,because there was a aroma from the sacks and it was not pleasant, we all knew what it was .■■■-hoo…there again in the old cottages,my nan had it was a empty the bucket job on the compost …it produced good fruit and veg…

Peter ,yes a long way to go ,however you had the enjoyment of getting there what a lovely riding experance however not for me [motor bike] but i do like speed ,not the tablets,i do not know if you ever used the Brenner pass in a truck, i used it regular for a time ,and both ways the nice long declining slope ,used to make me just want to let here go ,knock it of cog and hang on but never dared as one the pay station for the ITALIANS [VIPATINO] had a 40k speed limit and the Italian milk tankers used to come flying past and ■■■■ you off,no speed limit for them but you knew at the bottom they would not get stopped, ,i used to think i would just love to go flying down and straight through the pay barrier, and give them a reason to pull you. fully loaded, there were times i would just lift my feet up ,just like the old days going down a bank, sad ehh, the repressed dare devil i once had…the only excitement i get driving now, is going down the multi story car park trying not to brake ,the wife going mad .pdb.

Spotted ‘R44 ***’ (again) today on the A26 in France…

Buzzer, who is driving around with the company Kodak Instamatic nowadays? Now the cruising season is well under way we could to with some more pictures of the fleet around the European hot spots!
PS…are you still running to Greece? Cheers.

Bullitt we have not appointed a new cameraman since “snapper” deserted Tracy Island suppose we should look into it, you got to find someone who is into it for that to happen anyways we can work on it, meanwhile you will have to put up with the “Archers” type input a story of every day country folk which is sometimes better than transport cheers Buzzer.

BUZZER I KNOW I! RATTLE ON as a guest on your site ,it keeps the old brain ticking, like yourself when you have been around a bit, most things become a interest. and yes i used to listen to the archers on long wave i think it was around Macon i would loose it but weeks later pick it up [the story ]EDDY GRUNDY,what a ■■■■■■ used to shout abuse at them sometimes .all to make the miles [kms] go better…sometimeS THE ARCHERS were a saturday ■■■■ up catch up.pdb

PDB you were not alone listening to the Archers on route, many Southampton drivers were parked up taking a break with radio’s tuned in to that almost a religion that was. Believe it was on BBC world service IIRC but may get corrected. Lent one of my horses to a mate who is of coaching to the races at Ascot, one of his went lame so he’s borrowed one of mine, cant be doing with all that pomp and ceremony getting ■■■■■■ on champers and eating salmon sandwiches with no crusts, bread and cheese and a pint down the pub is more in my way of enjoying myself, better go and shut the chicken up now before old Freddie does his round’s, cheers Buzzer…

That just brought back a memory!

First ‘Long distance’ trip to Damascus - bit of a disaster, told elsewhere - coming back through Yugo and trying to get something, anything, on the radio, suddenly heard ‘Dah-di-dah-di-dah,dah-di-diddy-di-dah’. Got the whole Archers episode for the day before it faded again! Boy did that buck me up. Suddenly felt so much closer to home.

Great Stuff.

John

Yep “GOD SAVE THE QUEEN” AND THE “ARCHERS TUNE” all ways a home coming tune, both of them… nice rendition john, i started to dah.di,myself,.i expect they all have grandchildren by now [the cast]… we English may not outwardly show to be the most patriotic but who else has them tunes.all this fist pumping on the chest like that bloody tennis player Djokovic, play the “bloody archers mate”!! if Murray was English ,what a tune to bring him on the court…or monty python…or the magic roundabout…sorry getting carried away.

Buzzer? so any horse used to coaching will soon blend in with horses from different stables.does one take the lead ,like be boss. I have never been to a horse race meeting ,my son has got dogs [racing ] i went once,OXFORD that was enough for me, he had such a gob on him yawpping and holliring at his dog ," they cannot hear you" ,he was a different person from whom i knew ,i retired to the bar…and that would be my problem if i went anywhere like that i would probably spew ,thinking i was younger [as i liked a drink] beer only, and then need the loo desperately ,i would rather not go.as for champers not a fan maybe only had 1 or 2 glasses, although they say the good stuff is not like diesel… and salmon repeats on me [gavisgon nurse]…so basically Buzzer i would be down the pub like you…ps FREDDIE,has lots of cousins around here ,noisy long tailed pricks.about 2 in the morning i put the light on and they look at you as if to say [what!]! im playing fu–off…
I wonder if WRIGHTY has freddie problem, they would take lambs i bet if desparate.did you see this in bullys on this site.

Today i was unfortunate enough to witness an Eddie Stobart lorry hit 3 swans and DRIVE OFF. One died in the arms of myself and another passer by the other two swans were injured. The driver did NOT stop nor did he seem to care he had left 3 swans in a busy dual carriageway in Milton Keynes injured and causing chaos. Thanks to the other people who took time out of There day and helped me get the other swans to safety while a vet, the police and the rspca arrived . Congratulations to the driver on being so heartless i took photos for
Evidence and have the whole ordeal on a dash cam hopefully it has your number plate in the video so you can be held accountable for what

Evening all

Thankfully we aren’t bothered by foxes up ere if we see one a couple of local lads come up and despatch it, been a busy week up ere T B test sorted and all cattle out apart from a few June calvers. Been mucking sheds out and power washing, so by the end of the week we should be all spick and span ready to start making silage next week. Back in work tomorrow don’t know where yet, we suddenly got a bit bigger on Monday with the announcement that Bargh’s have bought out R G Bassett of stoke. I don’t think it will affect us milk lads, but the general haulage men may see some changes.

Cheers Wrighty.

Wrighty if they carry on like that you will just be a number like your truck, Bassett’s of tittensor or some thing like that they been around for a good while, that seems to be the way nowadays firms just get bigger and bigger. No foxes eh do they do hunting up there with packs of hounds they do down here and its supposed to be following an aniseed trail but that don’t always happen that’s for sure, just a mistake you see and its all over in a flash.
Going to Wales tomorrow as a big collective sale of Lim x cattle and I have seen pictures and some look the right sorts to me so try me luck there, need some soon as its getting on in the year now and my bully needs some exercise. Did my walk round today to check them all and them calves are racing away and look grand., no doubt about it they have the shape about them, will take some more pics as you will notice more than me as I see them every day and don’t notice the difference.
We had a little rain today for about an hour it absolutely tipped down and now nothing, could do with a nice gentle fall all night as it is getting too dry down here. Do you spread your muck straight out the sheds or heap it and do it later ? that’s what tends to happen down here.
Starting silage already have you enough grass or do you do several cuts of the same field, one fella here gets four crops of his ground.
Got to go and walk the pup now as Mrs D has four grandchildren staying over night and that is a handful, just done tea but that was simple just pizza and chips and all of a sudden silence wonderful, cheers Buzzer.

Evening Buzzer

Yes there is a local hunt but haven’t seen them about for a long time but we just don’t have many foxes about, probably too cold and wet up ere for em. We tip the muck in the corner of a field and let it rot down to be spread after we have taken the crop off, up at home we only get one crop but our land down near Leyburn we get two crops off if the weathers favourable.
Good luck with your Limi hunting something will turn up at the right price, the weather looks like it’s getting better towards the weekend the recent rain has certainly made our grass grow and the bloody lawn!

Cheers Wrighty.

Cancelled Wales today so its Newark tomorrow now, walked round the cattle today and we have had more rain than I first thought as the marsh is very wet, just shows how quickly things change. This is “Woody” now three months old and in his third week with us, he has definitely landed on all four pads living here, he likes a chew and eating horse ■■■ as well funny that but dogs are. He has his second jabs on Monday then he can go out and about in the village in a couple of weeks to meet the other dogs who live round here, growing fast and wont stay a pup for long so we are making the most of it while it lasts, cheers Buzzer.

Hi Buzzer how did Newark go ,more new ladies for BULLY?

PDB went to Newark took three & a half hours which is not bad in a limited Scania truck but good road especially the A46, only managed to get one cow & calf as the prices were to high for me so disappointed on the day but will keep trying.
Did my walk tonight in the rain round the cattle, sims on the marsh seem happy enough and got plenty of natural shelter, cut loads of Scotch thistles down with my Swiss knife as they seem to be springing up all over the place but dispatched them and they wont seed for next year.
The new cow has settled in but bully was a little possessive when I went in so did give a wide berth, she and he were laid down a little away from the others so im’e not sure if he may have dealt with her already, she has got a bull calf only three weeks old but a good calf.
Watching now for more sales of cattle so will update progress, have got a wacking great bruise on my thigh as when loading she kicked the gate into my leg, good job for the gate as it could have been far worse if a direct hit, its bad enough if a calf catches you, cheers Buzzer.

Buzzer thanks for the update yes the road is improved from years ago you passed through my old area. Banbury is the nearest town from the village i came from.
DO you have to wait for a cow to start showing it is in calf ,not like the pad the rams have .

.As for the kick you had ,i put money on, that you wife said to you,“what did i tell you to be careful” your not as young as you were…as if it was your fault…lol you should have put straw on the ramp, it was a way of the cow saying, i told you so…take that…you were lucky ,high up kick.could have got the jewels…

Thinking of starting a snail farm ,so many around now they like the wife,s[agapanthus] but they do not eat them…i know the FRENCH purge them[snails] for a time on clean greens to clear then out,all the banter before about me and the dreaded [my view]le-routiers, i have actually eaten snails sitting around the long table but not with drivers, but farm workers at a wine collection, after receiving the first collection address by phone you got there and there would be the telex waiting for you with the other 15 collections on the vin-de-route… i actually stopped the night in a farm with a on suite bedroom ,gods honest truth.the cases were not ready to the next da…,yippie just what you needed after a run around with the meat…you new you would sleep well,■■

however the next day my fatal mistake was soon to rear its ugly head, i had been drinking beer, before the meal, during and after eating the snails, so i just tucked in the Garlic masked any taste they were in teracota dishes on the table for all, lots of bread nothing elese but i could not taste much anyway ,i was showing them the way to drink beer, i thought but they were having the last laugh as the next day the reaction was horrific ,they told me i should have not drank beer with snails but "Champagne"or at least red wine…the trouble was i have always been a gulper not a sipperi used to order two pints first off not one [piggy] but that was the way ,i used to hate waiting for others to sink the first pint .anyway snails and me will never meet again…

PS i have years ago laid down with a few cows, but they were never free “nor on the grass”

PDB I saw something the other day and that was a sticker on a cows rump which when the bull mounts it rubs of like a scratch card so you know if he’s been at it, after that you can scan them or the vet puts his arm up.
Today it was absolutely peeing down outside so went jam making, did two batches of 15lb of mixed fruit strawberry, raspberry and gooseberry this I find a nice blend and ended up with 41 x 3/4lb jars but lost one to an egg customer who turned up while I was in the bottling up stage but they are a regulars, cheers Buzzer.
