Davies Int. Southampton. With photos (Part 1)

Mappo believe it or not I first went on TTF as a boy going on holiday with my parents, always remember the snorgis board where you could go up as many times as you liked in one sitting and help yourself, don’t think that happens today would cost a fortune, Buzzer.

Those ferries you went on Buzzer. Were they coal fired ? Regards Charlie

First TTF ferry I went on in 1968 was the Viking1V It had only just been converted from oars.Regards Charlie

Charlie that was uncalled for, here is a page from the brochure if you look closely in the bottom picture you can just see a young Buzzer enjoying a snack whilst waiting for the “As much as you can eat” feast to begin

I am searching for a pic of Mappo when he was deck crew on a submarine :unamused:

Hope you are keeping well and the hip is ok.

Regards Richard

Charlie trust you to lower the tone, just converted from oars every body in 'ampshire drops the “H” so we know where you are coming from. Richard as usual Mappo would be found trying to stuff the one armed bandit, always thought he would win but it never happened, always a loser on them things, Buzzer.

I,ll have you know Buzzer, that I did once win the £50 jackpot…only cost me £49. :unamused: :unamused:

Hi Richard. Yes thanks. Keeping well and hip is 100% Not using the stick any more.Re the picture of a young Buzzer I am a little confused. When did he stop wearing white socks and little dresses ? He looked very fetching.Regards Charlie

Charlie every one on this thread know’s you and Mappo are the only one’s old enough to remember setting sail under steam power, bet they even let you have a go on the whistle when you passed the Needle’s, Buzzer.

I remember myself on a steamer one Sunday lunchtime with Mappo. We were up on the bridge and the skipper said " Would you like to blow my whistle ?" I left them to it.I’m no gooseberry Regards Charlie

Charlie…that was supposed to be a secret. :unamused: :unamused:

Sorry Tony but since my conversion to a certain middle east religion I can only tell the truth.Inshalla Regards Charlie

Insha’allah to you ,n all Charlie…as-Salam-o-alaikum…this incidentally is the
only phrase that I remember from my brief visit to the Middle East 10 years ago while
working for Halliburton as a civilian driver for the American army.
Certainly didn,t stay long, too much of a coward… :unamused: :unamused:

What we all want to know Tone is did your helmut get damaged or is it still intact after your little conflict, Buzzer.

Didn,t even get dented Buzzer…look.

Here,s a fleet line up ready for the off.

Here,s my cot ( as the yanks called them ) …camp bed to you and me.

Charlie bet you never knew Mappo was a real live Action Man, Buzzer.

Buzzer:

John,

I was thinking more like Barbie Doll :unamused:
He looks like a weapon of mass destruction,he was like a Scud missile when he drove for you you’d set him off and didn’t know where he would land :unamused:

Only joking Tone you look lovely, was that your blue period ?

Regards
Richard

Looks like your ready for action Tony ! Up the M3 on a Monday morning !
R Jimmer

Hi Jim.What a fine figure of a man that Mappo was.Shame he has gone downhill since then. I bet if he walked along Brighton sea front dressed with his helmet showing, he would turn a few heads. What do you think Tone? Regards Charlie

Don’t know why he bothered with the helmut, there’s nothing in there that could get hurt Charlie, cheers Buzzer.

Richard, Jimmer, Charlie and Buzzer…shoulda known that was coming.
