tbh, i think 9 hour daily rest should not be done when commuting is involved, sleeping in cab 9 hours is fine
I’ve got a shift this week with 9hr 30m daily rest planned, if things go wrong on the first duty, and i run over by 30 minutes (which happens often), it messes up the next duty. I have to commute, it’s only 15 minutes when not in rush hour, so I’m quite lucky, but I know other drivers that spend 40 minutes or more on commute

Think about what you’ve just said.
You start at 7am, finish at 7pm, have 24hrs off, when are you next starting? That’s right, 7pm… Work till 7am, have 24hrs off.

I think 11hrs off, but the rates would have to increase to make it pay, especially for trampers. But I do like the option of 9hrs off, especially on the day I’m running in

That is why its the drivers choice - the driver knows how mush rest they need to be safe to drive again

I feel, in all seriousness, that 8 hours is plenty long enough to be at work in this day and age. And three days a week, while we’re about it. I know this won’t happen for all sorts of reasons - the principal one being that we worker ants must be kept busy enough to stop us thinking, and doing anything about the many social injustices prevalent in our society - but I’d much prefer to have less money, less “stuff” and more time to enjoy my life. That’s why I work nights: eight hours is a long shift for me.

I’d rather carry on having 14 hours. 
I’d rather just be off and have people stuff money through my letterbox. This work carry on is right inconvenience!

Don’t mind 9’s even the 8’s when they were legal as part of your split rest but prefer 12 or more on a night out. Good walk round. Pint and a bar meal or similar and still time fir a good night’s kip.
