Thanks for posting that useful information.
Youāre missing the point. Even if you were heading back to base at end of week, the extension is for one hour only. You exceeded that one hour. Maybe not by much, but you deliberately exceeded it.
Iāll guess you were not aware of the 1/2 hour option. If you did, youād know you have to have a break .
The 1/2 hrs is not new. Itās over 5 years, so no excuses.
If I was your TM and you didnāt bother to update you were running soooo late, and then failed to correctly use the 1/2 hr extension, then as a minimum Iād be looking for discipline to a final written warning and possibly dismissal.
Having said that, TM should have been on the ball that you might be late.
Be pleased you didnāt get fine and PG9, and move forward.
No. The extension, if applicable, is to the daily driving limit. Nothing to do with daily rest.
Yeah, I read that again and youāre right - itās the driving limits. I canāt see how it can be interpreted otherwise.
It canāt, it purely the daily driving limit on the last shift begore a required weekend break.
You say you heard or read if you went over by an hour running back dvsa will go easy on you.
Maybe they would.
But it only takes one jobs worth who sticks to the rule book or has a bad day.the rules are the rules.
Same as speeding people always say your allowed ,10% over before can be done.
The laws the law of it say 60 you could be proesuted for doing 61 but not many people do.
The rules are the rules nothing you can do about it. Just read up make sure you stick to them.
Ignore any planners etc that say otherwise
As if get stopped lose your licence get ponts or what ever your be out of a job
Office staff will deny everything and still keep there job
Yeah, I think weāve covered pretty much every aspect of this. Some of you think I should perhaps get the sack (to make it a lasting, meaningful lesson), others think Iād deserve some leniency as a new start and a 1st driving offence. Fair enough for both. Iāll let you know how it went.
