daf

im a relatively new driver just started off with a small company my current truck is a daf xf 105 510 2007 there is only one thing i can fault and that is where the window joins the quarterlight on the passenger side as i agree like others it does create a bit of a blind spot but as ive now got use to it it doesnt bother me too much ive driven a few other trucks man-actros-daf cf and out of them all i would chose my daf xf even though its old and mannual with 870k km on pulls like a train and im always up to max weight daf all the way for me

Nodding donk : i was talking about XF

And saying doesnt have much of a blindspot translates as : yes it has a blind spot .

Certainly big enough to kill a cyclist with , as many incidents prove

I know. XF windscreen is more than big enough to show what’s needed… The road ahead. Not the sky above…

Of course it has a blind spot. Every mirror set has. But the XF doesn’t hide a complete roundabout approach, unlike say, an MAN.

daf all the way for me

+1, rather drive a DAF than a Volvo, more leg/elbow room & far more reliable.

I had many Years an old Daf,without Limiter. Up to 2001. Some may remember them in the Ardennes or Lokkeren. Best Lorry i ever had.
The XF is a extreme good Lorry,i was just driving for a few Times.
The CF,well,… You cant see the left Mirrors in the Night when dirt is on the Window as you cant open it. The Steering is soo heavy i got a Tennis-Arm from it.

If you are in and out of farms and narrow country lanes then I don’t reckon that you can beat a CF.

I think maybe are refresher course for some people on here, how about it ROG, a bad workman always blames his tools.

I do farms and narrow lanes every day in a CF. It’s too wide with pants vision. The LF is suited more for my current job as the cab is smaller.

Try driving an 8wheel version.

blow the front tyres up a bit lol the steering is ok on mine :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:
I drive an 11 plate cf410 8 wheeler and its perfect for the job.a great deal of my work is in central London and I have to get in and out of some extremely tight spots due to the nature of our work, and I think the mirrors and visability are spot on.not a glamorous motor but its nice to drive and has a manual box,and has been pretty reliable in the two odd years ive had it(on a different firm I had a brand new one for five years and it was almost faultless-a turbo and an alternator were the only failures I can think of-and it was worked bloody hard.best lorry ive ever had)
plenty of room in the cab(for a day cab) and its comfortable.
ive found it pretty good off road aswell.

Tyre pressures are fine, we run R295s on the 8w but R315s on the 6w. I reckon a lot of the heavy steering issues is a returning nagging shoulder/back problem from my flour carrying days.
