Hi Hodge, Plenty of stone to lead away here, Is this site near to the Thirlmere water intake tower the castelated building on the lakeside. The County Council website does not give a specific location. I doubt it will take a long time to shore up the carriageway etc before it can be used again. Is there another site alongside a beck as you drop down from The Raise summit heading north towards Wythburn church. ?
Cheers, Leyland 600.
Staggering isn’t it - it looks just like a forestry commission road!

cattle wagon man:
A couple of years ago , there was a lot of comments about a certain female E.S. driver who was encountering
problems when delivering some cream cakes.
We successfully transported this largewedding cake
in the mid 1990`s , and without the television publicity.
It was part of the Sedbergh Gala decorated floats procession .Cheers , cattle wagon man.
Superb photo Cattleman Mackereth, yes where you lead Stobart follows, and they get all the publicity. Never mind it was your original innovative idea to transport cakes not Stobarts.
Great photos Hodge, keep them coming, they will be drinking some dirty watter doon in Manchester by the look of all that sluther lying on the road. Mebbe Bewick wad be better employed with his barra and fishing net in the acqueduct bottom side of t’ Raise catching leaves, twigs and stanes
Cheers, Leyland 600

Interesting pics Turbo keep em coming. This pic brought back memories from 1967 (before the breathaliser) camping Keswick but had been in the White Swan all day me & me mate anyway picked a couple young ladies up who wanted a lift to Ambleside, so obliged but before we got to Ambleside they were screaming a bit & wanted to get out, It`s not what you think, I had took a right hander a bit quick & put the old 100e 5cwt van on 2 wheels the only thing that stopped me rolling it was the raised stone kerb as in this pic. Oh the folly of youth!!!
Merry Christmas everybody
