Crazy overheight in Europe load

I posted Tipping on it’s side…WTF?

raymundo:

hotel magnum:
bugler out of poole ran boats to spain for years so if there is a high load route they would know.

No height restrictions via the boat route

I hate to disagree…but I have had to pay the fine. Trying to leave the port they measure you
It’s 4M and that’s it…Unless you can read and write Spanish to fill out a million forms in triplicate to their authorities with the correct permits in place.

The main clue was :- Boat route, as in no height restrictions at sea

Perhaps you have never been to Spain in a truck or looked at a map.
Seville is not a port , so how do we get to the port without the necessary paperwork …Sodding Helicopter ?

Being pedantic on August 21st 2012 this ship visited the port of Seville.

I see ships

Serious answer being it’s doable but not easy or cheap. Highest I’ve dragged up from that area was 15’ 3 from memory and the route was a royal long winded pain in the backside as generally speaking the main national roads only have 4.5m clearance. Not many ferries can accomodate the height either. The shorter by road and longer by water option would be better.
Personally I would speak to Dreena or Marc at EAF about it or the boys at Park projects, who really know their stuff.

Hope you’ve got deep pockets as the trip permits alone can be eye watering at that size.

Or try Van der Vlists office in Hull.

I have a Spanish recovery firm with a Paddy driver looking at it …there first guess was near £7k …that was back of ■■■ packet price. Which hurts !!!
I used to do Malaga with a Tanker as a regular route for a decade so I know some of the pitfalls but Cheaper would be better.

I have had a word with a mate of mine who knows about trolleybuses. You get the height down a bit by removing the poles and gantry.

Already gone ! With pumped up tyres it’s still over 16 foot !

On the lowest low loader I know it will be about 4.75 M with wheels removed and strapped down !

Seville not a port ■■? in that case when I was skipper of the Klazina C workin for Carisbrooke Shipping from the Isle of Wight they obviously sent me to the wrong place, btw, Christopher Columbus remains lie within the Cathedral there near to an Irish pub that does great imported Guiness, hth.

edit … also some decent cat houses within reasonable taxi ride, was in one (purely as a spectator) when it got raided by the localGuardia Civil and they carted of all the girls … demanded my money back !! Obviously never been there so apologies

Oh yea, and also did a spell or six with Richard Long so more than likely did the road route to most of Spain as well.
Oh and I’ve also left my brain cells somewhere and delivered to supermarkets !!

Haha I’m beginning to sound like the Tobester, Famous Grouse works wonders

Surely can the top deck not be removed and replaced installed after all I think the panel’s are riveted?

As low as this? There are height issues in the USA too. It made the journey from Missouri to the coast at Baltimore. It came in at Southampton. Bus is nominally 14’6" although in reality slightly less.
