i was wondering john , i’m sure we took reels to convoys at worsley just up the road from ■■■■■■■ . that was in the 90s , dave

Great photos thanks for sharing .

Thank you for posting these classic pictures, I used to load at Deptford in the 80/90s, I also used to deliver there too, I also delivered to their Manchester Depot and Thornliebank , Of course everything has changed since then, Tilbury taking the Finland Forest stuff over, I used to haul it from Blyth Harbour when subying for Fergusons Transport who had the job for a lot of years, Regards Larry.

It was a bit of a blow when blyth harbour lost the paper job larry .I did 7 drops round tee side from nelstrops every monday and into blyth for a backload to lancashire . iIf i was running a bit late little geordie would have the reels down ready to load .happy times long gone now , regards , dave

Brilliant pictures Charlie, i remember the Leylands, but never seen a crusader in there colours. Volvo F7s then FLs, later Mercs. They also used two smaller yards in the area as satelitte storage, Badcocks wharf round the corner from me, Erith Deep wharf P cabbed Scanias with single axle flats. Also the cable depot on Warspite road.
Largest private wharfinger on the Thames in my time, 300 wagons a day. Bewick, Longs of Leeds, Longdons among the regulars

This was my first load after passing my HGV Class 1 in 1984.
Reels out of Convoys, Deptford, the lads there were really helpful, I had never done it before so they took their time and got me loaded. Delivery to Aylsbury print.
