Container drivers alert

Lucy:
Ditto running with your empty 20ft still fixed in tip position back to the docks. Not stable, and won’t do the trailer any good at all, never mind your underpants!

Please provide evidence to back up that claim. Personally I think you’re talking ■■■■■■ (I’m referring to running with tri-axle slider in the closed up position with axle 1 raised).

Lucy:
Ps. Rereading that, I think I need to get a life…away from containers!!! :open_mouth:

Thats great Lucy you obviously know your subject no such thing as too much good quality info. Training companies charge a mint for it.

Rob… Lucy has forgotten more about containers than you’ll ever know…

Just another Rob K wind up and load of Bull ■■■■…

:unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

smee unless you go to nettos aldis lidl tip yourself takes longer for them to open the bay doors than it does for you to tip then they check them etc etc but if your hourly paid great not so if salaried

I was enjoying the topic until he decided to take a pop at someone… Again… and by the way I have some experience with containers… as that’s what I run … all week long…

the best bit of advice which has been forgotten

if you open the container doors dont stand behind them :exclamation: :open_mouth:

open the door and walk round with it so anything that falls out dosent land on you.

if anything does fall out dont worry about it you didnt load it.

i once won an arguement at nettos at south emsall…

pulled onto the bay they cut the seal and i pulled off to open the doors. when i open the doors a load of stuff fell out  not my problem so i told the lad on the bay who was going to tip the box that he had better come down and move it all.

we then had the arguement whos going to shift it. he wasnt allowered in the yard and i couldnt give a ■■■■ cos whats in the box im not allowered to touch so it turns out stalemate neither of us are insured. :bulb: problem sorted jumped in the cab and stuck in reverse and reversed over it all.
next thing manger is down having alook matey on the bay gets a bollocking for not shifting the boxes and i get the plesure of driving over thier goods again while matey jumps down and shoves the boxes on the bay.

No mate, i’m just about to type up a proper container drivers diary, here goes !!!

Hi thecoder0,

Stuff that’s probably obvious, but…

Make sure that your twistlocks are in the correct position before the crane drops the container on. Asking for the crane to come back and lift up the box because one of your locks wasn’t quite aligned and is now jammed by the full weight of the container can make you rather unpopular

Make sure that your twistlocks are all open before they come to lift the container off. The only container port I’ve been to, you have to undo your twistlocks before you drive up to the empty container “forklift” guy - the moment you stop in front of him, he grabs the container off straight away, so if you haven’t already disconnected the twistlocks, your trailer is going with it… :open_mouth:

Only once, for Lloyd Fraser. I guess they were trying to find more stuff for their drivers to do when the Focus work scaled down at the Bristol site.

And yes, I was told to make sure that they put the container on the right way around…
