Compulsory masks

Whats the anti-maskers take on omicrom? Does Icke say “Cast away thy mask child and breathe deeply”?

Given it arrived on a flight where everybody would have been masked and double/triple/billion jabbed, from a state where mask wearing is mandatory. I think the evidence is clear for all to see…

Proof they were all double vaccinated?

No. Because that mentions eligible fully jabbed.

That isn’t the only alternative:

Travellers from South Africa who are not fully vaccinated can still travel to the UK. They do not need to hotel quarantine but have to do a pre-travel PCR test and then self-isolate for ten days. They also have to do a Day 2 and Day 8 Covid-19 test.

The above para is from your link…[emoji16]

Yeah but being jabbed doesnt stop you catching it so not sure what your point is?

A (presumably) eminent virologist was on Jeremy Whine the other day having a very irate rant aimed at those who haven’t been vaxxed. He finished his rant by almost shouting that 50% of those very seriously ill in Covid wards were unvaccinated!

Just as well he didn’t take a position as a mathematician I reckon.

I haven’t “fact checked” his 50% assertion btw, so don’t shoot the messenger.

Whats your point maoster? Are you suggesting the vaccine makes no difference to hospitalisations? Did you hear this or did someone say it on an antivax forum? Cos I heard the hospitalisations are something like 98% unvaccinated

Is the population split 50-50 between those with and without the jab?

A quick check suggests 88% have a jab…
That means about 12 % don’t. And out of that 12%, they provide 50% of covid hospital admissions.

The ‘eminent virologist’ clearly has s better grasp of the numerical implications than some on here.

Understanding statistics isnt always simple and can lead the “unready” to wrong conclusions.

So it’s clear that Covid exists in Tesco and the like where you spend probably less than an hour, but it doesn’t exist in bars restaurants and nightclubs which are enclosed areas where people spend several hours in. What a set of plonkers, they probably actually believe that the public are as stupid as them.

Regardless of all the opinions on what does and doesn’t work and conspiracy theories.

I finally caught COVID in October after avoiding it all the rest of the time. I had been double jabbed and was barely I’ll with it really. No real underlying health issues.

Yet someone who is an anti vaxxer and conspiracy theorists like a lot on here also caught it. Not jabbed and because he thinks it’s all a con and ended up in hospital pretty bad with it. Admittedly not on ventilation but still not good at all.

Now neither of us can be sure how we would have been by having/not having the jab. But the one fact I do know is he was worse and more ill than me and ended up in hospital.

Do people really want to take the risk that they might be ok rather than have the vaccination to give you a fighting chance.

That’s my take on it and it’s gonna be back to wearing face masks tomorrow in shops and public transport it seems again.

This isn’t going away any time soon if ever and we have to learn to love with it as things go on.

Yeah I know. It’s all a bit silly tbh. But it is the way it is sadly.

I’m not suggesting that vaccines make a difference to hospitalisation numbers, I’m merely repeating what this virologist said. My own thought process was that if a hospital had (for example) 100 beds in covid wards then 50 people in them beds are vaccinated and 50 are unvaccinated. Make your own mind up what those figures tell you.

The only logical conclusion is that the unvaccinated make up about 12% of the population and that 88% of the vaccinated population take up 7 times fewer beds in proportion.

Care to illustrate any other logical take on the figures?

I thought a particular Feynman quote about teaching was appropriate here, I tried to find the exact quote, but came up with this,

“If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough.”
Albert Einstein.

He said that without falling about laughing too.

Einstein says nothing about the other party understanding [emoji6]

Now I’m just guessing here, but it’s not just about taking a test, it’s about getting a result too. So who you putting your money on? Somebody whos PROVED negative or somebody who has no information about their status? Unless you think it’s all a waste of time, then we seem to have found common ground…
