Can companys actually claim the whole lot back with relevant VAT receipts or do they get a tax reduction at the end of the tax year? I’ve heard allsorts regarding claiming back parking expenses.

They can reclaim the vat element from the vatman, they cannot claim the parking cost, but it is a business deductible expense which reduces profits, therefore they are not taxed as they would be on the amount if they had not incurred the expense

My brother used to have a highly paid job that took him all over the continent and he always stayed in five star hotels. When he took his wife on holiday, three stars was good enough. She divorced him before long.
I don’t get it, so was she a gold digger or was your brother a bit tight or careful with the pennies?
That wage is shocking
Personally I’ve never been a fan of stopping in truck stops and whenever I have done(high value load), I can’t sleep. Plenty of time to have a dump before you park up or you park within walking distance of somewhere I used to walk most nights after parking up and put over a stone on since I went on day work in October
I don’t know a tramper that doesn’t have water and soap to hand for washing hands
There’s plenty of options if you look hard enough and you might even get out and see some places you never would of normally, it breaks the week up nicely going for a walk Id walk 2 miles each way some evenings it always helped induce sleep to

Hang on … Why should you want to be parked up in an industrial estate having to crap in a bag in the cab? … With no where to wash your hands…Think about it, you take over a truck driven by another driver who has been ■■■■■■■■ and ■■■■■■■ in bags in the cab… Hmmm that will smell nice… Not sure I would want to be handling that steering wheel and having sandwiches for lunch.
Many drivers will be ■■■■■■■ and deficating on the estate roads at night and then there will be a bylaw banning lorries from parking up. You will also run the risk of getting the blame for other drivers actions… I see it now… You walk into your office on a Monday morning or on your return from spending the week on the road to find your boss fuming and ranting ’ I have just had X customer ring up stating the you was parked up on their industrial estate leaving behind your body functions and has formally complained to the police… Your fired’.
…
Don’t know how much tramping you have done mate but speak for yourself, if you spend your nights ■■■■■■■■ in your cab then crack on just don’t judge others by your own actions.
You paint a depressing picture of your view on trampers, if anybody out of the job reads that post of yours taking it to be true and typical, then their already low opinion of us will drop to somwhere between down & outs and dirty ■■■■■■ pigs
In all the years I have tramped I can’t remember once ■■■■■■■■ in my cab, I can’t speak for you , but I am still able to control my bodily functions.
I never park in services or lay bys but I am never far away next morning from a bog either at a services or a McDs for a crap and a coffee (not at the same time )
I do recall having the ■■■■ s on at leat one occasion but that was solved under the trailer in an Asda bag which was disposed of responsibly.
I agree that there is an element of dirty unwashed uneducated pond life amongst us, the evidence is there on parks after the rubbish and ■■■■ they leave behind, but I still think they are in the minority and that your opinions are a bit over the top to say the least.

I agree with Rob on that, bar a year I have tramped for 20 years, only ever got caught short once, you just plan a head, ■■■■, shower and a shave before you park up.
£23000 for tramping is an absolute insult & anyone who thinks that is an acceptable wage to pay a professional is in my opinion not worth working for . As for not wanting you to park in services , well I bet your transport manager jumps into his company car after a “hard” day at the office , goes home to his wife who has a hot meal waiting for him , then has a nice hot bath before climbing into bed , and he expects you to sleep in a layby , I would be telling him where to shove his truck & his £ 23000 .
And robroy , I think that’s known as a McCrap [emoji12][emoji90]
I always think that £20 plus to just park a truck up for the night is overly expensive anyway.
If I take my caravan away (not at work) I can stay for less than £15 night on sites complete with mains electric hookup, proper well maintained showers and toilets, food preparation areas, picnic areas, landscaped grounds with walks etc AND the place isn’t strewn with rubbish or stinking of stale urine.

I’d settle for returning home to a hot wife, climbing over my hard meal, followed by a nice hot layby, and end up sleeping in the bath. I’ve already shoved everything by this point. If there was £23k in my bank account in the morning, then that would be a bonus.

It is not my way of operating but there are some who do operate that way and I have seen their rubbish and that is left behind. The problem is we all get tarred with the same brush and it is easy to get the blame for others bad behaviour… It is also easy to get caught short when there is no facilities.
just to get things right, my salary is £23,000 which is poor my nights out £20 a night are on top of that apart from 2 , I have only ever had to use a bag once, well other drivers stay services truckstops I get no extra for saving company on expenses. im moving to class one shortly that’s poor wage to but better than im on, £27,000 plus nights out overtime on weekend is on top too sat £10 hr sun £12 hr.
if I don,t get any extra soon stuff them I,ll patrk in truckstops not keen on services
